There are though requested size limits (so it doesn't mess up the page size), right? I don't know what those are...twjaniak wrote:Avatars are linked in from external sites, so there are no limits.Iris2009 wrote:i know what u are talking about.

Kas, maybe you had an image that was sized properly but too high resolution? The other site may use it regardless of resolution, but this one may have tried to run it at 72 dpi and thus increased the size? That's my only guess for why that happened...

Yes, it was through photobucket and I had used that very avatar for at least 3 days before it "blew up". I had questioned on that when it happened. It's not from the hosting site, it was something happening while I'm posting it, here. All other places I posted that same pic with the same link from photobucket remained avatar sized...but here it would show as huge as soon as I uploaded it. Nevermind...if it happens again, I'll just let it mess with people's screens until it's resolved. I was just trying to suggest a feature I knew about from other forums to save people's screens if something like that happened again.
I had this exact same problem just this morning. It was early, so I'm not sure that anyone got stuck with the super-sized me all over their screen.
It would be nice to have some sort of preview button, or something that automatically scaled down the pics to the required avatar size. I know on proboards, no matter what size the original pic, it automatically scaled down to 100x100 when you posted it. Nice not having to worry about your picture going all King Kong on the site!
