Did we miss something about Taylor

Clues. Theories. Where do you think the story is headed?

If Jules played soccer then there was going to be girls who were in the same league. It was just a matter of one of them telling Bree about it.
Of course there were going to be girls in the same league. But how likely is it that one of those girls would "just happen" to post videoblogs that were seen by members of the LG15 Forum, and then by Bree?
Well, I take it that we're supposed to believe that Bree's gotten a fair amount of attention in her world, much as she has here. Perhaps not to the same degree, but I can remember (and have a link to) at least one news interview about her that was done with Bree in-character (this was before the reveal in September), so it doesn't seem all that unbelievable to me.

When I first hit "reply" to your message, you'd stopped right here, and I was going to razz you that of course you wouldn't think it would be Sarah.
And nothing you say can make me think otherwise!
Languorous Lass wrote:Well, at this point I think it's just as likely for Taylor and/or Sarah to be connected with the Order as not. It absolutely makes no sense for Taylor to be able to hack into some computer and find out the precise hospital at which Jules's records are kept -- as I noted in some other post, the US is far from being at the point (technologically and legally) where medical records are tied together online. So it's more logical, and more realistic, for somebody to be feeding her information.
Remove the "and/or Sarah" part from that, and I'll nod my head thoughtfully and say "Maybe."

Not Daniel, though, or — as far as we know — Cassie. Or Random Girl either.

In any case, though, the fact that so many have been related to the Order seems to me like good reason to expect Sarah and Taylor not to be. Funny that we took opposite determinations from it.
trainer101 wrote:Anyway, whether it's a global organization that has infiltrated all levels of modern society or just a relatively small group of wacko's, it makes sense that everyone associated with Bree would be part of either the Order or the Resistance.
Why would that make sense?

I don't know which news interview you're talking about, but unless you tell me otherwise, I would assume that it was an interview from during the period when people on-line, and some people in the media who report about developments on the 'Net, were talking about the popularity of Bree's vlogs, and speculating about whether she was a Real Person or a fictional character. If that's the case, then I'd argue that the fictional Bree wouldn't have gotten nearly as much attention in her fictional universe -- I'm assuming that people there wouldn't have speculated about whether she was real or fictional! That would just be too meta for me.

In which case, I'm assuming that the soccer-league girls would simply have been part of the group of viewers following the exploits of BD&J. And regardless of how all-encompassing LG15 may seem to us Lonelycrack Addicts, that group does not include everyone in the known universe. In fact, many of us have acknowledged that we've had little or no success recruiting people we know in RL to the LG15 fold. So unless we're dealing with a group of little Taylor-and-Jules clones, all of whom spend their days playing soccer and their nights drooling over DB on-line, it's not exactly believable for Taylor to know Jules.

Then again, though, somebody in the Forum talked about how she was in class and was flabbergasted to hear another student's cell phone playing the Tachyon theme (neither student knew that the other was an LG15 fan). So who the hell knows.

The article does mention YouTube popularity a little bit, but it's not the focus of the article, nor does it bring up whether she was real or fictional. You can check it out here.

An article like that could have definitely appeared in the fictional world without compromising anything.

Hm. You're right. It could have.

Okay, I'll have to rethink this issue. Thanks.

No problem. I'll let you know if I come across any more like it (can't remember any off the top of my head).

I guess I should have been more clear. I'm talking about recurring characters that have had direct interaction within the context of the viewable story (I would have expected you to read between the lines for the inference). Random Girl was a marketing stunt, not a recurring character. Cassie is not a recurring character either, merely an occasional mention to appease the masses. And Daniel... good ol' Daniel. The jury is still out on him. You'll remember there was much speculation about whether he had been brainwashed prior to being assigned to Bree. That possibility still exists.

I can see what you're saying with Random Girl and Cassie (the classification of a recurring, interacting characater and all), but with Daniel, I think any speculation about brainwashing from years ago is just that. There's not been anything to actually indicate it.

Also, the one time we saw him under the influence of a member of the Order, they were trying to send him back to his old life away from Bree. There wasn't any indication that he was one of theirs.

No feeling that eventually they'd have to become involved with someone who wasn't part of the Order? I mean, obviously the Order wouldn't stop trying to trick them (Gemma, Alex, Alex again, Jules), but every last person who might be willing to help them doesn't have to be connected, right (look at Jonas)?

Yet he was never able to give a good explanation for getting into a van with a random cowboy and taking off into the hills. Still a question mark for me.

I did look at Jonas. His parents are/were part of the Culper Ring - the Resistance. He's in up to his eyeballs. There's always a possibility that there will be a recurring role that's not affiliated with one side or the other but it would be far more interesting to see sister pitted against sister - one with the Order, one with the Culper Ring. Drama!

He didn't know that at the time, though. My point was that there's got to be people willing to help out that aren't affiliated.

Ack. Personal preference speaking, but no thank you. XD
