The "symbology" of the stuffed animals

Post by watchingall »

Turtles

The markings and sections on some turtles total thirteen. In the lunar calendar, there are either thirteen full moons or thirteen new moons alternating each year. Many believe this is where the association with the female energies originated. The turtle symbolizes the primal mother and Mother Earth.

In the west, early Christians viewed turtles as a symbol of evil forces during war.

The turtle carries the world on its back. This is a symbol of fertility, vitality, and great patience. The Chinese believed these animals foretold future events.

Monkey

Monkeys represent cleverness and curiosity. By themselves, they can get into a lot of trouble. Their inventiveness can lead to good, or evil.

One of the Four Sons of Horus, Hapy, who was associated with mummification, was represented as a baboon-headed canopic god. He was born from a lotus flower

Monkeys similarly were appreciated for their seeming intelligence and playfulness, and so Egyptians assigned the Trickster attribute and the monkey's form to Thoth.

Bear

The bear was thought to possess diplomacy equal to its great strength and it is the emblem of ferocity in the protection of kindred. A bear is also a symbol of healing and personal health, strength and bravery

Purple

I went a bit farther and looked up purple. My first link was connecting astrological signs with colour. Purple is connected with Gemini! (Gemma?)

Purple is derived from the combination of RED and BLUE, it unites red's fiery masculinity with blue's cool femininity. Purple is often used to represent royalty, imperial power, justice, and/or truth. Christian references to the color link it with God the Father and royal power. Dried blood has a purple hue to it, and bruises on the flesh are often purple, in this respect it can be a sign of physical injury.

Questions and comments:

1. 13 keeps popping up doesnt it?
2. If turtles can fortell events, some research on any comments by owen should be looked into.
3. Maybe the "eye"symbol is the eye of Horus... which would connect us with his son Hapy, who had a monkey head :p
4. What were the flowers around Bree's house? Someone mentioned that a long way back and I can't find it now.
5. From the Zodiac of Denderah: Bree: So, with the help of Lucy and Owen I've been learning a lot about the Zodiac of Denderah.... And the woman and the man holding hands is the modern day Gemini. (Bree has now covered her face in her turtleneck sweater.)

Now does that seem odd? I think I need to go rewatch that one and not just read the transcripts.
6. Purple, Gemini, blood, physical injury?
7. There was a 4th stuffed animal, another monkey. Has it been seen? Twin monkeys? Any significance of twin monkeys and a missing twin?

Just some way out thoughts :D

See the TURTLE of enormous girth!
On his shell he holds the earth.
His thought is slow but always kind;
He holds us all within his mind.
On his back all vows are made;
He sees the truth but mayn't aid.
He loves the land and loves the sea,
And even loves a child like me

See the TURTLE of enormous girth,
On his shell he holds the earth.
If you want to run and play,
Come along the BEAM today

Try as I might, I can't find anything too interesting to post here. Though turtles do have some interesting mythology, none of it that I've found yet applies to the story.

I'm gonna keep digging though.
