Not all of us. I have never supported this war and always thought it was more of a pissing contest between little Georgie and his Dad. Sort of a way to be like "See, Look what I can do, I'm finishing what you started 'cause you couldn't do it."
I can completely understand why other countries hate us. In the simplest of terms, we have become the bully on the playground. You have to play our game, with our rules or we will beat you up.
Don't get me wrong, I am very grateful to be living in America and I know that there are many freedoms that I have here that I take for granted. But I also believe that we have become so power hungry, so intent on being a world power, that we (and I'm using the royal we here people) have lost sight of everything our forefathers sailed across the ocean for.

Oh snap!

You can't really be surprised that some people believe(d) this...
This is why I sometimes feel that political discourse with large groups is best left to comments like "Oh snap!" and "it really makes you think"... Otherwise, you'll just make yourself crazy.

yea i can completely agree with that Ziola...
I remember when canada (where i'm from) said we weren't going to war in Iraq
and all of a sudden George starts saying that we harbor terrorist and we support the terrorist and we are not supporting the war on terroism (even though the majority of the troops in afghanistan are canadian) and we are a part of the problem...
it sickened me how fast he turned on us jsut because we didn't agree on the war.

Well, I don't know what to say. I'm not really an advocate of capital punishment, and I don't care for the way Bush turned on Canada.

I feel like I have been eaten ands spit up.
Sorry, I shouldnt have posted a political topic. Although I dont feel like it got out of control huge debate. We were just having a discussion. I do apologize about my language but I believe that was the only thing out of hand. We were telling our opinions and educating ones that didnt know somethings(or slipped up)
and no, I dont think the propaganda fooled everyone. There were an abundant amount of people against the war to begin with.
I feel like it has rained on my parade.
First topic I post and apparently it was wrong that I stepped into the political stuff.

I read through this, and I don't think people are necessarily attacking you, KJ. Even if someone attacks your opinions, I don't think it's meant personally. As you mentioned, these types of discussions are extremely difficult. Whenever people feel strongly, feelings are liable to be hurt.

Oh, don't worry about posting about political stuff. Its good to be able to express yourself freely. Discussion and interaction is a fantastic way to learn new things or simply reinforce your original postion with better facts and background information. I don't think anyone here is angry upset with you. I think we can pretty much all agree that while we might not agree on everything, we are lucky enough to have the freedom to discuss and debate it.

No, sweetie, it's mad cool, love the topic. Please don't stop posting!

It only gets ugly when people start fighting.
As for Spacie.. she shouldn't be in trouble for anything, ever. To me, she's a much needed part of any board, kinda like punctuation in a sea of words. I happen to think she says what a lot of us (esp. me) are thinking, but don't know how/are too scared to say it. GO SPACIE!

I actually am part of a debate team so this is what I do.
Only better when it isnt on a forum and I am not worrying about checking things.
