I didn't lose my virginity until I was in my sophomore year of college (which was this past year, btw). I've dated several guys before I lost my virginity, too. I'd only really done much sexual stuff with the guys I dated from 17+. I'm also not THAT rare of an occurence. A lot of people I know at both my high school and my college are virgins or have only just recently started having sex.
On the other hand, at my high school, there were also a lot of people who had lost their virginity. That's also true.
I think you're theory has some merit and in fact, it's what I've believed for a while myself.

How old are you in sophomore year of college? Obviously the schooling system in Scotland is pretty different to the US. But I know some people who are entering university (at about 18 years old) who are virgins.
Then again, my best friend lost her virginity at 13 - it's all relative.

I'm 19. I'll be turning 20 in November and I will be a junior in Uni.

I wouldn't be surprised if she was a virgin. 18 or not, she just seems like a little girl dying for a bit of attention. If she were out having tons of sex, I doubt she'd feel the need to talk about it so often.

It's definitely possible that Sarah is all talk. People who are actually satisfied with their sex lives don't talk about it all of the time, so I'm guessing that if she has had sex, it hasn't been that great. I have to say, in my experience, most guys find that kind of girl annoying unless they're the co-dependent "She's been hurt, and I'd like to save her" type or the pathetic "She might actually have sex with me!" type. The most attractive and secure guys are into attractive and secure women. Attractive and secure women have sex too, of course, but they don't advertise it all of the time!
I think it's a shame that people get hung up on what is the typical age to have sex. I went to a high school in the city, and I'd say half of us were virgins and half of us weren't. When I got to my college, which was more rural, most of the freshmen I talked to were virgins, and many really attractive people I talked to hadn't even been on dates yet. Lesson? Don't have sex just because you think it's the normal thing to do at your age. "Normal" is all relative, and the people surrounding you and the people on TV do not necessarily represent the world as a whole. If any of your peers are pressuring you to have sex to be normal, think of how creepy and pathetic it is that they're so interested in your sex life. Doing it to fit in or to seem cool or mature is the worst reason to have sex. Essentually, you're prostituting yourself for acceptance, and it will almost certainly be a bad or mediocre experience if that's your reason.
