For those of us not following OpAphid (And remember, there are 3,000 people at this forum, compared to almost 70,000 LG subscribers on YouTube) we had no idea where that video footage about Gemma and Lucy came from.
I'm not complaining about OpAphid fans knowing first. I just think it's important that non-Op fans can tell what's going on too. After all, if it ends up with only the 3,000 people in the forum watching LG -- that might not be a big enough audience for LG to keep going -- and I think we can all agree that we don't want that!
I think it would be a mistake to make a major distinction between OpAphid fans and LG15 fans. OpAphid fans are still LG15 fans -- Op is, after all, part of the story. And those LG15 fans who aren't really Op fans would still be able to gain the benefit of the story aspects offered there without playing the ARG. Of course, there probably is a few people who became interested only because of the ARG, but it is an ARG that is an aspect of LG15.
And -- contrary to what anyone might say -- it's an important part. As someone who doesn't play the ARG, I still have no problem staying up to date with it all. I still watch every new Op and Tach video. I'm subscribed to them on YT, and I am personally glad to see that they've got a greater relevance to the main plot now. I don't think the Creators should be afraid to use them to further the plot.
That said, I do think that they need to feature the Op and Tach vids more prominently. As you said, JayHank, there's something like 70,000 subscribers on YT -- and a whole lot of them were confused when Jonas suddenly had that footage of Gemma with Lucy. I think the Creators are making a mistake by not featuring the Op and Tach vids on the main page here the same way they feature those from Dan, Jonas, Gemma, and Bree.
I don't think the answer to all this is to make the Op and Tach vids less important. I think the solution is simple: just feature them as prominently as the other videos. Sure, this will require going back on their word that viewers who ignored Op and Tach wouldn't miss out on anything, but that's already been proven to be inaccurate. When you make a mistake, you make a mistake, and you just have to fix it. At this point, making the ARG vids go from vitally important to meaningless would be an even bigger mistake. The only solution is to put them out there in the spotlight with the vlogs.
