Possible Gemma/Tachyon tie-in we missed: Soccer Riot?

Post by covedweller »

In the Phoenix Theatre drop, the Tachyon video had the song "Soccer Riot" by the Suburban All-Stars.

The mp3 of which is here:

It came up on my iPod in shuffle today and it occured to me it might be some commentary on Gemma, given that the drop card contained that Gemma video and the song sounds British.

Did anyone ever find or type out the lyrics to the song? Any previous connection made that got lost in the clutter? The lyrics sound like they are about soccer (obviously) and a little bit of aggression.

I'm not having any luck finding the lyrics. I've found the song, but not the lyrics. :(

The Suburban-All-Stars was a band whose beginnings were in Petaluma and Sonoma County.

Jeff Gerstmann was a member of Headboard, a Petaluma band, and one of the hometown shows at the Phoenix almost ended without a performance when the mini-disc player turned up broken. G-Man ran around backstage and collected a ragtag band together to play some generic rap-ish beats. He liked it so much he decided to make it a permanent thing. Most of the previous songs were converted to a ska-rap mixture, or skrap. I think that this was where Jeff started losing interest. Though he stuck with it for over a year and a half, he eventually left the group, and created The Suburban-All-Stars. In this new creation, he could be as crass or edgy or foolish as he wanted to be, often all at once.

Tachy decided to use local music in her video about going back to her hometown. The music was a clue referencing Petaluma and specifically the Phoenix Theater. The drop was found under the back stairs of the Phoenix.
