The creators themselves have said that Yousef was not fired. And the LGPedia can be editted by anyone--don't take it as gospel. I could go in and add that the part of Daniel will now be played by Brad Pitt. Wouldn't make it true.roxybebito wrote:The LGPEDIA says that nothing has been confirmed as of yet. that is not an assurance. I would hate for him to leave. I heart danielbeast.

To quote Yousef:
"Thats what I was told, to start looking for another job today. "
Not that he was "fired". Fired was never stated.
And silvermoon, it wasn't you who asked the question "why would they tell him to look for another job?", it was spaciegirl. So I explained my theory of events.
I'm not making him sound like a 12 year old; I'm making him sound like an emotional twenty-year-old who's just been told that his dream job may be coming to a close and may have to go back to a job he doesn't like. *shrug*
And about conspiracy theories -- there are speculations that the creators fired him, that this is just a stunt for money, that this is just to screw with the fans for an upcoming plotline, and that the UAE told Yousef he can't be involved or somesuch. That, to me, sounds a whole lot like a whole lot of conspiracy theories.
We won't know the truth of the matter until one of them posts it somewhere we can see, and honestly, if my project that I'd put a lot of effort into was coming to a close sometime soon because of something as stupid as money, I'd be pretty upset AND reluctant to talk about it to people who are busy going off making petitions based on something that nobody ever said. (That Y was "fired".)
Also, I'm not omnipotent. I've just been watching this whole thing like everyone else -- except that it's been the back end that's interested me the most. How they put it together, how it's a model for new entertainment, how the spinoff games have erupted, how it's been spread virally. (I'm in marketing. This stuff is brain candy for me.) So no, I'm not a plant. I'm just not getting all emotional and sniffing for longshots when the truth of any matter is usually much simpler than people here seem to be making it out to be.

If they remove Daniel.. then it's just not lonelygirl15 anymore. I'd stop watching instantly if Daniel get's killed off. He completes the series. Without him, then it's like Bree verses everyone. NO WAY will Gemma be able to replace Daniel's role. No way should anyone replace his role.silvermoon wrote:Bad enough that they would get rid of Daniel...but replacing him? No way. Uhh-uh.
Daniel should stay.. Now who's with me?

OH! Um...I mean, Brad Pitt would be horrible...um...silvermoon wrote:The creators themselves have said that Yousef was not fired. And the LGPedia can be editted by anyone--don't take it as gospel. Oh! Humor! Thank God, I thought it had escaped everyone on this post. This is exactly what this site needs more of. Everybody has been so pissy lately.Kasdeja wrote:OH! I think you're right, missviolet, and I thank you for adding a note of sanity and clarity to this discussion.missviolet wrote: Yousef's post never once said he was -fired-, per se. Just that he was told to look for other employment. And if I was part of a project with just a few people involved, and they ran out of funding, I'd want that kind of heads up ahead of time, too. So I can see where his post came from.
C'mon, y'all. He's young(ish), and an aspiring actor. Scratch that -- he's an actor outright, even if it's just this series. If he saw that coming to a possible close, a passionate post on myspace wouldn't be out of the question, especially when his profile is closed to all but "friends" over there. It's like venting to a couple thousand of your closest buddies -- and then it was posted here and people have gone absolutely batsh*t.
Thank you, spacie. Glad to hear I'm not alone.spaciegirl wrote:I second this diss...I haven't been able to figure out how to word it so I haven't said anything about her either, but you did a good job here.

Re: Why Yousef's announcement? Why now?
I have to say this makes alot of sensetreefunk wrote:I don't see any plausible explanation of this whole debacle other than that it was a publicity stunt.
The creators make us think that Yousef is fired and that the series is about to fall apart. Then they tell us he's not fired, but... um... they really need our cash. Could this have all been a publicity stunt to plug their new cash-generating mechanisms? To scare us with a nightmare scenario in which LG15 falls apart?
Don't get me wrong, LG15 is really entertaining and interesting--the creators and actors certainly deserve compensation, and a lot more than they are probably receiveing right now. But this whole affair reeks of tilapia.
I think the burden is definitely on the creators to explain Yousef's MySpace post if they want to establish trust with their fans.
