Forum likes to under- and over-update

Post by sunbean »

This may be my browser (IE), but I don't have these troubles on any other forums I visit. I am set to auto log in, which is working now. :) However, often when I look at one thread marked with new posts, then go back to see another thread, all the "new" markers are gone. I use backspace key usually, occasionally the back button. It doesn't always happen, it seems random. It's frustrating tho because unless I check all the time stamps, I can't know which posts are new.

Also, sometimes the opposite happens. I'll check out a thread, go back and the forum won't update that the threads I'm reading no longer have new-to-me posts in them. I refresh and still have the issue. It lasts a long time sometimes, even after leaving the forum and returning, it's just kinda stuck. It will update with more new threads, but won't erase the one's I've looked at.

I hope that all made a bit of sense. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a really easy solution (besides switching browsers)? Thanks!

I'm glad you posted this...it happens to me, too, but I was afraid I'd have people wondering what I was on if I posted about it.

It happens to me too. I think I posted something about it before.
Gets me all confused

edit: I use IE 6. It doesn't seem to matter if I come in from the main page, or go straight to the forums.

It seems to happen to me every once in a great while. Usually it's when I've opened the board in my browser (Firefox 1.5 series), read a few things, then closed the browser and opened it again for some reason. Maybe it's browser-related. What's everyone else using?

Well, at least the admins now know that it's not browser-specific :)

If it weren't coming from such a sexy penguin, I might have taken offense to that ;)
