The Summer Solstice is my favorite holiday. I am so excited to be getting away from Providence for a few days. I even flew my dress maker in from Paris so I would have the most beautiful black gown ever. I wore my mother’s last year and it just brought back sad memories.
We plan to leave early Wednesday morning so that I won’t have jetlag on the 21st. I really hate flying but in the end it is always worth it if it gets me out of this ancient house. It gets very old living in a museum. I prepared everything for the flight so I won’t be digging my fingernails into the seat the whole time. I had my doctor give me an extra large bottle of Klonopin which I find when mixed with a nice red wine completely relaxes my nerves. I also had Gemma pick up one of those portable DVD players so I could watch whatever I want during the flight without having to subject all the other passengers to my taste in films. I plan to just zone out for how ever many hours it takes for use to get there. I plan to spend the entire flight just smoking cigarettes, drinking my special wine, and watching films. I have promised myself not to worry about a thing.
This way when the Solstice begins I will really be able to enjoy myself. I know I sound foolish but this holiday is for me like Christmas is for most people. Don’t get me wrong I still do the tree and gift thing at Christmas time but it just doesn’t have the same meaning as the Summer Solstice.
