[Discussion] New Character: Sandi

Post by TOSG »

Props to cainam for getting most of the way there on finding this.

The morse code on the tarot card that Aja recovered in yesterdays drop codes for "2vre6z".

This, of course, is a tinyurl: http://tinyurl.com/2vre6z

This leads to a myspace page, presumably of a new character, a 19 year old girl from Santa Cruz: http://myspace.com/filiascientis

One of you myspace-inclined people should try to message or add her (although, given precedent, we'll probably have to figure out her last name...).

A google search for "filia scientis" turned up this: http://www.levity.com/alchemy/a-archive_apr05.html

More alchemy and Claude d'Yge. Apparently "filia scientis" means "daughter of the science" in Latin. I do not know of the significance of this, if any.

Daughter of Science

Post by phipunk »

Athena, the goddess of wisdom, was born out of Zeus' head. Perhaps our new friend has similar origins, in some sense or another?

The following quotes are from the discussion of Jay's myspace on this thread:

This picture titled "Filia Scientis" was found on Jay's MySpace.

Pythias = priestess of Apollo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pythia)
Delphic Tripod = altar where the priestess sits to deliver the oracles of a god (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sacrificial_tripod)

So Jay is making the allusion that the OpA symbol is that of the Delphic Tripod?

I kind of like how Jay is trying to tie in the chemistry aspect of FacilityJ in with the OpAphid kind of stuff. All of this stuff with the symbol having aspects of Apollo, who was the "archer-god of medicine and healing, light, truth, archery and also a bringer of death-dealing plague." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo)
deagol wrote:The Daughter of Science... although I think "cognizant daughter" would be the accurate translation, which of course is a good description of the seer Pythia.

Now, looks like this priestess had very special qualities. Bree? Ceremony-girls? And there's quite a lot of research about the reported and theorized risks to her life, a strong indication of drug induced hallucinations (ethylene).

Ok, so Op is the sacrificial tripod, oooh scary... but, ceremony-girl sits on top of Op, haha, makes me think of a toilet lol; HoO is the Mirror-of-Galadriel-like little plate with the tea-leaves-reading hocus pocus, (indeed a possible "front" or cover for what's really going on, HoO being responsible for ritualizing, mythicizing, and theologizing a mere psyche-trip). I would place Crowley and Thelema in the same category. They still may need something really special about the candidate girls. It all seems like a nice tie-in of a lot of the LG loose ends.
You made a wise choice, Bree.

Some Youtube correspondence:

I wrote:
Hi Sandi,

You said that you knew I was coming. And here I am.

You said that you'd like to meet someone who you don't already know. If that's true, you should enlighten me as to your last name, so that we can connect.

I'm very curious about who you are, and how you came to be in possession of J8. I think that we may be able to work together in the future.

Out of the water, I am nothing

"out of the water, i am nothing"
For what it's worth: that quotation, featured in Sandi's profile, is attributed to Duke Kahanamoku (aka, the big kahuna), the father of modern surfing.

Sandy (I mean, Sandi) must spend a lot of time at the beach.

That's some peculiar rhyming: I don't know any 19 year olds who would use "ay" or the phrase "what can I say" without a very good reason. Not sure why our attention should be drawn to those lines, but...just some idle thoughts.

I think whoever Sandi is, is trying to say 'aye' the misused scottish slang meaning 'yes'.

So, she's trying to say 'on the make already, yes?'.

Or alternatively, she could have been trying to spell 'ya' but accidentally pressed the a before the y.

With the 'what can I say?' she was probably referring to the fact she can't really say anything else other than that...I've known a few 'gangsta' like people in my time who speak like that (I'm 15, near enough, btw).

I sent her a message. It was rather confrontational, and if she's anything like Jay she won't reply.

Sounds like a rap to me, just with the rhyming and the flow of it.

ETA: I've tried a few last names on myspace with no luck. She's online right now so I sent her a message hoping she'll respond before she signs off again.

Yea I know some of those links weren't needed. Just wanted to reinforce the point of this being surfer lingo.

I think she's just saying, "talk to jay if you want the info, he's in charge."

Seems she hasn't responded to anyone yet but Tosg, so you aren't alone.

It's just because TOSG is so hot and sexy, she couldn't resist. lol

Don't feel bad, this PM doesn't seem to like answering messages as much as the original one did.

Jay never answered my message either, other then giving us the puzzle for his name. Which had to have been in the plan all along so not really answering to me.
