Chicken is the general term for the species, as far as I know. Males are referred to as roosters (which is what I am), and females are referred to as hens.

When I was a kid my mom made tuna casserole all the time. I loved it then, but now I can't even smell the stuff without having nightmares.

I had the same issue. As an adult, I have found out that I can eat most things as long as I have tobasco sauce. Tuna casserole is one of those things. But I never make it. I can't stand the smell of canned Tuna.
