 wow, I don't feel like that at all.
I'm not sure if you mean people are mean to you or if you have a problem with swear words?

If people are mean to you i'd :smt075 for you. 'Cus people being mean to eachother on forums or RL sucks.

But if you have a problem with swear words... And feel like taking a shower if you read the word 'f**k' you have issues... seriously

Wow. Uh, bye then. Personally, your actions were a bit meaner and so is that of some that 'defend' you than many I see regularly on here. I didnt' realize it was o.k. to be bitter and rude to everyone but no o.k. for the innoncent post in that thread that set you off. If that disturbs you, I do urge you to keep reading books and stay off forums...because this is, indeed, the tamest forum I have known.

when I read this I was truly shocked.
I'm sure there are a few threads that involve interesting and controvetial subjects, however I have never seen any one cross that imaginary line the seperated PG and R.

mind you, I am pretty sure we all thinki at NC17.

Darn, I'm allergic to blueberries... <rueful grin>

Susan, mincartaugh, I'm probably the closest in age to y'all, so the most likely to understand where you're coming from.

Having said that, I've read this thread. I have read every post that HeartofSorrow has written. I have read as much of the Daniel Ma Belle thread as I can (I just cannot keep up...every time I try...87 more pages seem to spring up! <chortle>) I figured, since these were all mentioned in this thread, that would be fair.

I've read much of what Susan and mincartaugh, as principals in this discussion, have written. Heaven only knows, I've read much of what the rest of you folks have posted, too! <huge grin> Again, being fair...

Let me tell you a bit about where I come from here. I first started as a "sysop" back when a 2400bps modem was SCREAMIN' FAST and super high tech...about 20 years back, on a text-based national online service. I've worked on a number of online communities...and I truly love the way online communities bring folks together.

Things have changed over those 20 years - in the real world and online both. I remember when emoticons first started... I have a friend who still turns her head sideways to look at them. I still have a list of kajillions of non-little-yellow-guys - the totally text smilies and their meanings.

I remember when I was running several games on AOL...one of the things we were tasked with was keeping bad language out of the games. Since we had an international crowd, I had to put together a list of swears in multiple language for my "GameOps" - now that was a challenge!

Boy, have things changed. There are things said in public and done in public now that we sure wouldn't have seen when we were kids - the horror!! Things had changed to a pretty big degree when we were raising our kids - in big part because we wanted to change the world, didn't we? And now our kids are raising their kids, and things just keep changing.

As I started sysoping...moderating, there were so many more really major rules, but the biggest rule was the most important one AND IT STILL STANDS. It was the one that was the most important one in my home as I raised my kids, too: you don't do something to someone else that you wouldn't want done to you. You don't do something to someone else that would damage them, that would hurt their feelings, break their bones, make them uncomfortable. I used to joke about not saying things that you wouldn't say in front of your grandmother, but at the end of the day, it came down to this...if you started to post something, you needed to be able to walk away from it, and come back to it later as if you had amnesia - not knowing YOU had posted it, but thinking someone else had posted it aimed at you. If you could do that, if you could think it had been AIMED AT YOU and not be upset by it, then the post was probably okay. If not, then it definitely wasn't. A walk in another's shoes philosophy, I guess.

I suppose what I'm saying is that we all make mistakes in what we say in the heat of the moment - it's really very hard to do that walking away thing.

I will repeat that I did read all of Sorrow's posts that are currently on the forums - last night and again this morning. It appears that things might have been misconstrued. I did not find anything that I found sexually objectionable, but... If someone has specific examples that they would like to point me to IN A PM, I would very much appreciate it.
Diane, or cher, or even chershaytoute, but "Hey, you!" works, too...

I don't want to air this out in public, but I suppose I have to.

I did remember your invitation. That was not the issue. If you need further explanation, have someone you trust PM me.

I believe you're talking about the "Daniel, ma belle..." thread with Juli (longlostposter), Mary (consideration) and Aithne and Kassia and myself...

Right?

I really hope no one is offended by that thread. It is just a big joke. Just to clarify.
Curfuffle thy forumite.
