I'm sorry to post this, but I think I'm done with LG15. The videos are getting better, but the forum is disgusting. I'd rather not be exposed to the level of filth coming off some of these people's keyboards. I feel like I need to take a shower after viewing some of these posts.
I've left before and lurked, but I'm done.

Wow, don't let a few pests cuss you out of the forum. O_o
I think everyone needs to remember that this is the internet. It's impossible to filter everything. Just ignore it. If you leave because of someone else's cussing, you are letting it affect you waaay too much.
jus my 2 cents.

Thank you, TOSG. I think we have a really intelligent, creative, and fun group of people. I think most folks try hard to be civil and nice to each other... it doesn't always happen, but we're a pretty good group of people.TOSG wrote:This forum is easily the tamest and most civil that I've ever seen, including many that are much more restrictively moderated.

I am loving all of these drama-quits as of late, please, keep them coming - it's way more entertaining than the videos!
for real tho, the language on this forum is rather tame, and definitely pg13. susan, why do you watch the series if you can't tolerate bad language? i'm sure there have been other instances, but off the top of my head, i know jonas said "f**k" in the video where he injures his hand. most of us here can handle that. if you can't, that's your decision. but again, thanks for an amusing "I QUIT" QQ thread.

I didn't much think it was a drama quit. Susan posted in the complaint department and nowhere else that I can find. (Or that she'll own up to) She stated her reasons for leaving and left. What drama?
From what I can gather, my sister left because instead of using the expletives or the modified exp*****es, users were describing the acts in graphic (to her) detail. I think she just didn't want to be associated with that kind of poster.
Don't worry, though, she'll be much happier sticking with books. She's insufferably bad at working a computer. Now I won't have to hold her hand through the simple stuff.

Re: Language
i disagree that its disgusting. people are entitled to their own opinions, of course. i didn't know susan well, but she seemed somewhat active recently? ... oh, she only joined a few weeks ago?Susan wrote:I'm sorry to post this, but I think I'm done with LG15. OUT OUT DAMNED SPOT! MY KEYBOARD IS SOILED FROM TYPING DAMNED! MY EYES ARE DIRTY FROM READING FILTH! LIKE ABOUT JONAS NAKED BACK! EWWWWW!
(just kidding, susan)
Susan, I really hope you don't go. Many of us like you. Also - and not to be a prick - but I feel like this (frustration over what is essentially people getting on together in a civil manner that just happens to involve sexual innuendo or profanity) is a really trivial thing to be upset over.
I mean, of all the reasons that one might want to leave a forum, this seems like one of the worst to me. When we could be constantly at each other's throats, making new people feel unwelcome and hated (rather than welcomed and encouraged), or trying to prevent one another from sharing their unpopular opinions (though I disagree with you here, as do others, I think we all feel you should be able to express this opinion), to leave because of this is mind-boggling to me.
To be honest, I wouldn't want to be on a forum that restricted the general use of profanity or sexual references (obviously you would restrict them when they were insulting or degrading of another forum member, but overly harsh, undeserved flaming shouldn't be allowed in any form). That would be 1) boring and 2) would unnecessarily restrict people from expressing themselves for who they are in civil exchanges. Personally, I use profanity quite often and I see nothing to be ashamed of in that.
I also am known to imply something perverted from time to time, as are many others. That's just who we are, and I see no harm that comes of it. We're being true to ourselves and honest with each other, all while being civil.
In this being allowed, I feel like this place is more welcoming, not less. The day that I can't quote Jonas having said "This is fucking ridiculous" in the very forum for the series in which he said it is the day I would stop posting here.

I agree with this. A great deal of effort has been made by moderators and regular users to make this place civil and keep it that way (for about a solid month at one point, there was what seemed like constant fighting; it took a fairly organized effort - and the agreement of the moderators to let some fights run their course so that feelings could be hashed out and put behind those involved - to turn things around).TOSG wrote:This forum is easily the tamest and most civil that I've ever seen, including many that are much more restrictively moderated.

How would she be associated with that kind of poster unless they were good friends?? Just curious...

Look, I'm none too happy trying to explain my sister's actions, but she is my sister and from what I'm hearing, you've got it all wrong!Lurker wrote:Sarah, I really hope you don't go. First, she wasn't at all concerned with the occasional use of expletives. (That means "Bad Words", Sorrow) The thing that got her torqued was having Sorrow post explicit explanations instead of cock and (if memory serves me well--and it won't) f u c k. Sorrow did this in not one place, not two, but three different forums. Had the fucking posts been in only one spot or had they not talked of inserting a male's sexual member into a female's interior, I doubt she would have given a mother-fucking care in the world.
But she watched when I first started on this forum and had several people blast me for posting a detailed analysis of a possible religion scenario in two places. Then she calmed me down after I got banned from PMing someone because I had invited them to help with the analysis and they'd forgotten I'd done that.
Susan--not Sarah--Susan is a gentle soul who does her best to keep from making waves. The post is going to be poorer for her absence! To watch this thread continue to trivialize her feelings is almost more than I can tolerate!
Implication and innuendo are not the problem. They have never been the problem. That is what attracted her to this forum in the first place. Before the queen of porn came on the site, most of you used swearing casually. You didn't think about it but selected what was appropriate. When things got too graphic, you resorted to that same inuendo. That 100+ page joke between Julie and (damn! I've leaked her name right out of my brain. Starts with a C.) is one of the funniest threads on this forum and most of it is because the entire thing is done in innuendo and intimation (another big word (look it up, damnit!)). Susan crawled out from under the figurative bed about two thirds of the way through and asked what she missed. I nearly peed my pants over that! She'd read every last post (some outloud to me) before she posted it. Do you really think she is having a hard time about bad words after pulling off that joke?I also am known to imply something perverted from time to time, as are many others. The day someone managed to turn expletive into porn was the day Susan left.In this being allowed, I feel like this place is more welcoming, not less. Can we get this fucking thread locked?

Nobody (well, I can only really speak for myself, but to my knowledge...) is trying to trivialize her feelings. It just seems that the majority of posters agree that there is no problem with the quantity or severity of "risque" material on this board. And if she feels differently, perhaps she shouldn't subject herself to it. I doubt that she is going to change the culture of the board (a culture which a vast majority of us are comfortable with and enjoy), so the only logical solutions are coming to grips with it or avoiding it. I hope that she chooses to do whichever will make her happier.mincartaugh wrote: Susan--not Sarah--Susan is a gentle soul who does her best to keep from making waves. I apologize if I misunderstood your previous attempt to explain, but given that the fact of the matter is that what you describe isn't what happened, what's the issue here?mincartaugh wrote:Look, I'm none too happy trying to explain my sister's actions, but she is my sister and from what I'm hearing, you've got it all wrong!

Is saying "insert another word for a woman's sexual organ here" between parentheses somehow more explicit than saying "pussy"? Or "insert another name for a man's sexual organ here" between them more explicit than having said "dick"? I really don't see how it is.
In case you feel that way for some reason, perhaps HeartofSorrow - who has been a member here for less than two weeks - assumed he couldn't type "pussy" or "dick," and went about it this way instead. Given that the choice of words actually used was nothing at all graphic, that seems likely to me, but I guess he will explain when he gets here.
As far as an explicit description of vaginal intercourse goes, I really hope you're not referring to this post, which is hardly "graphic detail." I think every one of the ladies from the 100-plus-page thread you mentioned would agree that this is excruciatingly tame compared to many of the things they said (and I think most forum members in general would agree that it doesn't graphically explain the process of vaginal intercourse anyway).
Looking at your post in response to that one, though, I guess this is what you're talking about. You called him unintelligent over that? Flamed him? Why? That wasn't exactly civil.
Well, you don't see me telling her to go, do you? Quite the opposite, in fact.mincartaugh wrote:The post is going to be poorer for her absence! To watch this thread continue to trivialize her feelings is almost more than I can tolerate!
I'm sorry if you think I was trivializing her feelings (I don't want to do that), but the situation itself (not her feelings) is something that almost all of us would see as a trivial matter - and I think somewhere in it, HeartofSorrow's personality and non-vile means of expression may have been trivialized. I'm sorry if what I've said in here seems inconsiderate, but I don't think it was. It wasn't meant to be.
(ETA: I really am sorry if I seemed to be triviliazing your feelings, Susan.)
I don't even see how this became a big deal in the first place. I'm truly confused, and would like to understand. I imagine most of us read HeartofSorrow's post, chuckled (or not), and moved on, because it's nothing different from what we're used to here.
Who?mincartaugh wrote:Before the queen of porn came on the site, most of you used swearing casually.
I'd like my post to be a request that it remain open. This issue clearly needs to be discussed, because there's some kind of major misunderstanding at work here somehow. As far as I can tell, this should have never become an issue, and it needs to be determined why it has and what may be done to prevent it in the future.mincartaugh wrote:Can we get this fucking thread locked?
Moderators obediantly locking threads in the way you requested there, by the way, is precisely what resulted in issues never being settled during that awful month in the forum's history I mentioned earlier. History is learned from by discussing it.
ETA:
Dammit. I wish I'd seen your post before going to the trouble of writing all of mine (while the modem flicked on and off, preventing me from reloading the page again to see if a new post had come). You said almost everything I did, but in a much more succinct and straightforward manner.TOSG wrote:Nobody (well, I can only really speak for myself, but to my knowledge...) is trying to trivialize her feelings.
