Your Drinking Problem

Post by Marbella »

Daniel,

All your friends are worried about you. I am worried about you. You know you have a drinking problem (and NO, don't go back into denial now!!)

How can you drink during a time when the three of you need to help each other so much? What will you do after you drink all the alcohol in the shelter? Will you just wander off alone to some bar again? Remember what happened to you last time when you did that!!!!

Ask your friends for help. Face your problem.

Sincerely,

Dr. Marbella

Daniel, I think you're hilarious when you're drunk, but you're taking this a bit too far.
You really need to calm down. Find some other ways to deal with your problems.

I love you!!!

Daniel,

There are two major traits that make up the personality of an alcoholic: self pity and resentment. I heard a lot of both of these traits coming out in the last video.

As you know, I am your biggest fan. I care about you more than you could know. I'm not a fan of your drinking, though. Alcoholism is a sickness. It is not your fault. It is an illness that runs in your family. It is poison to you. STOP.

STOP just for one moment to let yourself feel gratitude and caring for your friends and just for being alive and breathing.

Much Love,

Dr. Marbella

Yikes!! Dr. Marbella just put a mirror in front of me. It wasn't a pretty sight. I gotcha Marbella... thanks for the Dr talk. The feelings I have right now - I hate traitors, all chicks, guys with bigger muscles than me, the Order, and most of all hangovers... it's a whole lot better having those emotions than being numb and feeling nothin at all. I am happy to be alive and to have friends like B & J. All I need now is to get out of this bunker!! :)

Dr. Marbella is right, but shouldn't our trio (yes, that means Daniel too) take measures to prevent this from happening again? :?:

For example:
1. Try to avoid going within 100 ft of pubs, breweries and shops selling alcoholic beverages (unless you're moving high speed in the car, and then Bree or Jonas should be driving) to avoid the temptations they offer.
2. Zero-tolerance policy on alcohol wherever they go: any alcoholic beverage that is found in Daniel's possession is seized by Bree and Jonas. No alcohol, period!
3. Daniel does not go unaccompanied to parties where they serve alcoholic beverages.
4. Any attempts by Daniel to hide alcohol from Bree and Jonas means that whatever money Jonas gives him is (temporarily) denied him. No money in Daniel's pocket means no alcohol he could buy.

Yes, yes, I know it sounds like I'm wanting Jonas and Bree to slap down a whole bunch of rules, but if it is genetic (at least partly) then rules have to be laid down or this could happen all over again. "Tough love", remember? :)
Hey ya'll! :-)

Daniel has said he gets his alcohol by using his "skills". I'm guessing that means it isn't by using Jonas' money...lol.

Right, DB?

gjtko, I'm not sure alcoholism is genetically predisposed. It's probably got more to do with parenting, nurture rather than nature, etc. Your parents are the ones who teach you how to deal with problems, and it's natural to emulate them.

DanielBeast, you don't have to be like your parents. Batman wouldn't drink!

Daniel,

I want to become your official drinking coach. I believe that it is important for all people to have a healthy and enjoyable relationship with their booze and I would like to be your mentor and friend that helps you find that glorious middle ground we call enjoying a little drink now and then. Right now, you are teetering between booze hound and joining the Woman's Christian Temperance Union Woman's Christian Temperance Union! This is not a healthy way to live. It is also very confusing because it's easy to forget if you're in the i hate booze mode or the i love booze mode. Escpecialy if you're already drunk.

To follow your progress, reference this page here for continued commentary.

Love, Platypus.
