I still do...28 years dancing and still going...

I did ballet until I was 10, we moved and there was no longer a good school in the area for ballet. Then I started Jazz, Interprative, and Modern.

Had to quit when I was 14. I started developing my knee issues then and the Doc said the dancing was going to make it much worse alot faster.

Ofcourse the down fall is when I quit, my metabolism when haywire and I gained a ton of weight

Dance is pretty much all I know how to do. I own a studio now & teach ballet, lyrical, modern, pointe, tap, jazz & hip-hop.

And yeah, my body is crap. 2 bad knees, a bad back, a bad ankle...the list just goes on and on...

The only reason my knee became an issues was because I'm what's know as hyperextensive... my ligaments and tendons stretch more then they should.

The doctor said that if I kept dancing, the tendons in my knees would more then likely stretch to the point that they wouldnt return to their natural state.

Gah...I can't believe your teacher didn't work with you on that!

I have students that hyperextend that we've had to retrain their muscle memory to a more "natural" straight position
