Jonas -- grief therapy, or brainwashing?

Post by silvermoon »

Jonas has mentioned on several occasions that he's had all kinds of grief therapy and whatnot after his parents disappeared.

What if the therapy was not therapy at all, but Order brainwashing that he's been conditioned to forget?

Maybe Daniel is not the one who's been brainwashed at all -- but Jonas has for years and years? Perhaps that is the reason that he was allowed to survive when his parents were killed (or just disappeared, depending on who you listen to).

wow, thats a pretty awesome theory. i'd prefer to think dear Jonas hasn't had his mind touched in any way, but the theory is pretty plausible.

I don't mind if his mind's been touched...as long as they leave his body alone.

It's plausible. I still think what he went through was a combination of "grief therapy" and brainwashing. "Grief therapy" is a common psychological torture tactic.

Could you go into a little more detail on that? I'm googling the phrases right now, but maybe you know something already?

Hmmmm, after googling "Grief therapy used to brainwash" I found an article on a book called Sacred:
After being followed for several days, they decide to confront their tail, only find themselves knocked out and kidnapped. On awakening, they find themselves in the home of billionaire Trevor Stone who offers them $50,000 up front to find his daughter Desiree. Stone has only six months to live and desperately wants to see his daughter again before he dies.
Not only has Desiree disappeared without a trace, Jay Becker, the detective hired to find her, is also missing. Drawn in by their sympathy for Stone, their friendship with Becker, and the lure of $50,000, Kenzie and Gennaro decide to come out of retirement and take the case. They manage to trace Desiree to Grief Release, Inc., a 'self-help' organization and immediately run into violent conflict with staff members. Angie breaks into their offices and steals some diskettes that contain incriminating evidence. It appears that Grief Release is a front organization for the Church of Truth and Revelation. 'Therapy' sessions are used to brainwash their victims into revealing extensive financial information that is then used to control them.

Not only did Desiree fall victim to the cult, she became involved with Jeff Price, who recruited her.
Okay, so it doesn't really have anything to do with lg15, but has enough little similarities to have made me go "hmmmmmm" for a second.

I think your theory definitely has evidence to support it, and it's most certainly a plot twist I'd like to see. I just think it'd be so cool. I mean, the Order has been a part of Jonas's life all along, what with his parents, so it's a plausible theory.
