I was diagnosed by a shrink as well. But thankfully he didnt believe in medication for it. I had a great shrink when I was younger. He strongly believed that most things could be concured without the need of drugs.

Didnt stop him from getting upset with me when I stopped my anti-depressants without telling him though, LOL> I think he was more conserned about the fact it could have caused a heart attack (one of the reason I stopped it)

I believe it is a part of me. A part that makes me who I am, and I like who I am, so I like my ADHD. Sure, it is a battle sometimes, but I get through it.

You mentioned that your son is borderline, and all my talk of medication may seem daunting. I should note that, while in the past I did rely on medication, recently I have found that I am able to get a lot of work done (something I could not do previously without medication) while off my meds.

thank you hon.. that clarified many things for me. I refused to let them put my son on anything, since I had seen a neighbor's child on Ritilin... and yes.. empty is the word for it. It scared the crap out of me, and I wouldn't accept it. Soo.. for grades k thru 6 I went to school every Friday and had meetings with teachers.. using different methods to get him to stay sitting, work hard, etc. My work schedule was set around that, lol.. and it eventually worked. But the hyper active mind remains.. as well as the ADD. He's learned to use it to his benefit, thank god.

Oh it's a great benefit! I'm glad your son has learned to control it.

The best multi-taskers are generaly ADD to some point. Makes you more useful in business to be able to handle multiple things at once

Ah, I seem to have misunderstood your question...for some reason I was under the impression that your son was young!

I think the key to living with ADHD is learning to love it. I know I can be odd at times, and I know that is because of my ADHD, but my ADHD is also what makes me me, and what makes me gifted (I was tested to have a 137 IQ and write at the 18th grade level). It is very common for people with ADHD to have one area in which they excel, for me it is writing. I am guessing it is math for your son. Tenshi, I don't know you well enough to figure yours out, but I would bet you have one!

Yeah it seems every ADD finds something that is totaly there own to control it. Normaly music is best for me, but I can't do that work.

What's worse is the fact I can hear one word of a conversation and my brain so forgets what I was talking about LOL

yeah.. I've heard that from Steven as well. He uses music too.. he blasts it on the way to work, hoping some will stick in his head, to be re-used during the day.

hehe.. he has roomates.. so when he calls.. we have to 'refresh' the conversation many times, lol!

LOL Yeah mine is random knowledge LOL Ok not realy it's history. I absorb history like a sponge. Only problem I have is dates, and thats because of the verbal dsylexia. But I also write like mad. Actualy carry around notebooks with me constantly. Random thoughts focused into poems. Or scenes for books.

interestingly enough, that sounds like me. I absorb random knowledge; be it movie-quotes, facts, or just random things, they stick to me. But dates...I just can't get.
