Geesh! I mean, my mom was a little ticked when we moved to Indiana and the dance lady put me in beginners...I was ready for pointe had we stayed in St. Louis. But...that's different, lol.

wow. people do suck.Ziola wrote:*pounds Guinness and lets out a huge belch*
Why do people think that, because they drive their kids to dance classes, that makes them experts as to placement?!?
I have a grandfather all pissed off because his granddaughter can't move up next year because she isn't working this year. Never mind the fact that he and I have discussed this before (he seems to have conveniently forgotton). But because his daughter tells him about it, he gets all fired up. Oh, and did I mention that she takes 7 classes a week and only pays for 4? And that my not moving her up isn't to punish her for being lazy (which she is) its because she would be totally overwhelmed in the classes the next level up and would probably end up quitting dance because she would not be able to keep up...
People suck

There's no reasoning with someone like that. What's the worse that can happen, though? You lose a lazy student who is getting more than they're paying for?

I just feel like if she moves up, she'll end up quitting. The girls in the next level up work consistently hard every week. They are 9 to 12 years old and leave every class hot, sweating, and having learned something new or improved their technique greatly. This other girl is 9 and would be completely overwhelmed. She never breaks a sweat in class, she barely works enough to make herself breath heavy. And she has much potential, which is what really pisses me off. Tons of potential and no work ethic...
It's official!! I'm getting married September 28, 2007!!
That would be the person raising her's fault. They cater, she never has to work for something...so why bother? Sad that people don't always see what they are really teaching their children. Besides, the other girls are 9-12? She shouldn't be upset that she's not going yet. Seems she has a 3 year window before she can be upset at that.

sometimes you cant change people. you are doing the right thing, but its up to her to want to work harder. the only thing you can do is just stress that to move up she needs to put more of an effort into it.

The child is fine. Her and I have spoken and she knows that being moved up would be bad for her. Its the mother and the grandfather. Whatever, if it pisses them off that much, I think they should just leave. I'm not the kind of studio owner who wants to make everyone happy. Life doesn't work that way. My theory has always been "if you aren't happy here, there's the door". I just hate when people try to tell me how to do my job. Its not like I'm untrained, this is what I went to college for, for chrissake.Kasdeja wrote:That would be the person raising her's fault. *hugs* you are trying to do you best for this girl. thats all you can do. if the mother and the grandfather cant deal with that then hope the door doesnt hit their ass on the way out.Ziola wrote:The child is fine.
