Spring Awakening

Post by thelogicpuzzler »

Anybody here see "Spring Awakening"? I'm dying to go see it but it's gonna be hard to see it where I live. There really isn't a local theatre anywhere around here. Anyway, can you tell me about the oh-so wonderful cast and songs? I was fortunate enough to hear some of the songs and I absolutely love them!

That's what I get for being such a musical theatre freak! Not many people appreciate the arts like I do, unfortanetly. Oh well, I tried.

Yay. Someone does understand art here! What's the last show you've seen/ been in, if you don't mind my asking?

Well I am currently stage-managing a production of "Oliver" my last part was Nathan Detroit in "Guys and Dolls" but my favorite part ever was J. Pierrepont Finch in "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying"

You?

Nothing big, community theatre stuff. Last show I was in was "Cats", last show I saw was "Rent" on Broadway. I would be doing more shows, but I don't have a large range yet, and my little hiatus from dancing kinda made my resume look a little small. And the city I'm living in is, well, to say the least, not up and running when it comes to auditons. In fact, our only theatre hasn't been opened for months. It had some internal damage done to it.

I'm looking into lessons to broaden my range and gain my dance posture, but, the dance class is free and there is little progression. I'm gonna have to find a better class.

I am best at baritone but I can do tenor with some work...if you have ever heard How to Succeed...you'd realize it was about the perfect range for a baritone/bass...keep in mind, I can sing up to soprano in falsetto...and that is without straining....But I can also do bass...but I am most comfortable in the Baritone range, you?

I'm a stinlkin' alto, working on my falsetto for soprano range though. It's hard to find a show with a good choice of characters with my limited range. Every show I would auditon for has either an alto with a great falsetto, or a soprano. More than anything, I want to be a soprano so I can perform in my favorite opera/musical, "The Phantom of the Opera". I saw it once and ever since then I've been killing myself trying to get that range. Really hurt my throat though, as you would guess. I suppose I'll just contact my old vocal music teacher and see if she can help me, since she offered.

ROFL! Well, that answers my next question (which was going to be "are you a girl or a guy?")! Personally I would love to audition just once with "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" xD Just to screw with the director. My last audition I did "My Name Is John Wellington Wells" from "The Sorcerer" by Gilbert and Sullivan...it is fast!

Surprised? Yeah, maybe my next auditon will be something like, "One Song, Glory" from Rent. The only way I can sing anything else is probably with my falsetto. I should just grow a beard and get some muscles.

Director- "It says here you're female"

Me- "Yeah, so?!?! I can dress like a guy if that'll keep you from expecting me to sing "Carmen Habanera"!"
