I work IT at a small company that does pre-employment (criminal background, education, employement, etc) checks. We also do both pre-employment and court-ordered drug screening. Plus I developed a call center application for probation departments to use to randomize their probationer drug screens.

Sorry to ask you!

I was just curious since you wrote that you'd be stuck at work for a while.

That actually sounds really interesting though.

I NEED to get a job. I graduated in October but haven't had any luck with the job search yet.

Edit to add: haha sorry like anyone cares about me trying to find a job.

It's just that I get asked that and a couple of other questions on a semi-regular basis. I thought it was funny that you asked because I was asked earlier as well...

So, what was your degree in? I'm also back in school after all these years... Took most of the core classes for a law enforcement degree (because that's sorta the industry I work in), but decided against the degree itself, since I don't really need it... Now I'm taking comp-sci classes, even though I don't really need that degree, either

at least you aren't whining about how your life sucks and you have no friends and such. =) (no im not trying to imply that your life sucks, and you have no friends, just some people bitch about that alot.. lol)

My degree is in Criminal Justice as well. I have a law enforcement certificate I got from going through the police academy a few years ago and then I just got finished with my Bachelor's degree. So, now the job search is on

But that's why I think you have an interesting job too. I would take any job that got me closer to being in the criminal justice system right now.

I wonder why you get asked that question a lot...you are the first one I've ever asked that too

Yea I agree though. Wtf is up with the whining/people being negative lately. Not just on here but in real life. It must be getting too close to the holidays or something.

hehehe =) i <3 my attitudes, actually.. there's two of them.. there's the silly goofy me, and the horribly bitchy me. either way it's a good time.

people in general are just OBNOXIOUS lately. that's why i seriously just don't care for the holidays. it seems the *mornons* come out of the woodwork!

I think I get asked that a lot because I'm on here all the time from work

The classes were pretty interesting, but I already work at the place I'll probably retire from. So a degree isn't really needed for me. My wife is about 3 quarters away from her Bachelor's in Criminal Justice as well. Though she's not enjoying it as much as she thought she would... It's sometimes difficult being a non-traditional student

So, what's your ideal job in the criminal justice field? There should be lots of options out there for you

Yea people are weird during the holidays. Even my best friend is being a bitch lately. We got 2 feet of snow so she was stuck at her house so I suggested she go outside and explore the neighborhood and take pictures (since she loves photography) and she about bit my head off.

Yea I might know how your wife is feeling. After a few years of school in criminal justice classes I got burned out....

but my original goal in that field was to work my way up to a homicide detective (by being a street cop first). But now I'm not sure what I want to do. Like I said I got burned out for a while so I'm using this time job searching to look at different areas first.

But you are lucky that you found something that you can do until you retire (I am a little jealous)

Burnout is normal in any field... I get it a couple of times a year, so I schedule my two weeks of vacation around the burnout

If you get on a police force, the bachelor's degree should help your advancement tremendously. One of my instructors had her bachelor's in criminology, and I think she said she was nearly hired on as detecting. I think she said she spent about 6 months in a patrol car first, and that was mostly so she could learn the community.

Wow thats really cool about your instructor!

That's smart to schedule vacations when you are getting close to burn out point.

I just can't wait to get a job...I'm running low on money. Thank goodness for my boyfriend who takes care of me. I've been living off of student loan money for a while now.

My boyfriend just texted me...he knew I was talking about him....

My wife and I don't have to worry *too* much about money. I make enough to get by, even if it's only barely... But both of our cars are nearly paid off, so that will help with the savings

Good luck with the job search. I'm sure you'll find something interesting in no time
