Zosyn and Cerebyx

I was looking in some of the "strange Tags" old posts and I found out that this disease was one of the tags in the "I'm going to the Party" video. It's around the time that Bree was receiving shots.


Campylobacter

This is kind of weird. It seems to be some sort of disease or condition. Here's a definition:

Campylobacteriosis is an infectious disease caused by bacteria of the genus Campylobacter. Most people who become ill with campylobacteriosis get diarrhea, cramping, abdominal pain, and fever within 2 to 5 days after exposure to the organism.

I got a gauze pad the last time I got my flu shot...but that might be me.

Thinking about it though, guaze is more common when you have blood drawn, or when you get an IV?

But Bree is smart and the daughter of a doctor, whe would know the difference right?

Not to mention the fact that one of the Creators is also a doctor.

It's possible that Bree could have had this, but it's generally something that runs it's course in less than two weeks. It wouldn't really make sense for Zosyn to have been used for over a month for something like this. Especially since we don't know of Bree displaying any of the symptoms, and since antibiotics other than Zosyn are typically prescribed for this anyway (and Zosyn's usually used for more serious things).

That would have been funny during the grills video if like poop started coming out of her mouth all over the foil. That's why she would have a bandage on in the next. The Order is just concerned about this girl who eats poop. They're not evil. They probably took pictures of Daniel because they didn't want him to start eating poop too. No wonder they didn't tell her parents. How embarrassing... like, well, your daughter eats dog shit.

And Bree is always sticking her hand up those puppet's butts and talking to them like pets. It's not so weird that she would do that to someone's pet. Bad girl! Something is seriously wrong with her!

Wow, that was hilarious . But I'm now thinking that the Order may have infected her with a genetically-modified bacteria that marks her as a high-ranking member in the Order. Or perhaps she is now a member of royalty in their society--like a princess and/or future queen.

Iron pills are usually for anemic people, but also suggested for women around the time of their menstrual period. Anyone who is losing a large amount of blood in a small amount of time will experience a slight decrease of iron. Maybe the iron pills were just as supplements to make up for the blood-drawing injection gauze things.

I can't imagine she would have been losing enough blood from the shots to necessitate that, though.

You are right, that wouldn't make any sense.... Her shots weren't in a vein or anything, there would be no reason for her to bleed very much from them.....And you wouldn't draw blood from someone where Bree's bandages were, they draw blood from veins (and sometimes arteries in very rare cases)...My mother is a phlebotomist, she draws blood for a living....

edit: Someone mentioned this earlier.....she also couldn't have had an IV, because they don't put IV's where Bree's bandages were....

Here is the main problem with the idea of Brees shots consisting of Zosyn and/or Cerebyx: Zosyn is a drug that is designed for intraveinous distribution, not intramuscular. Therefore, she could not have been receiving shots of Zosyn, shed have to get it through an IV (or, at the very least, an intraveinous shot, like herion).

However, supposing that somehow the writers messed this up, the best connection I could come up with is that Cerebyx is used to treat status epilepticus:

"Status epilepticus is a prolonged seizure that can cause brain damage and sometimes death. Head injury, drug overdose or withdrawal, stroke, brain tumor, infection, or seizure disorders are common causes of status epilepticus.

It occurs when a seizure lasts more than 30 minutes or two or more seizures occur in rapid succession (one right after the other) during a 30-minute period and the person does not fully regain consciousness. (These seizures may look like one long seizure.)"

So, in theory, Bree couldve had an infection that was serious enough to warrent the preventative (or not..) administration of an anti-seizure drug. BUT, if she were this heavily infected, I think she would have been obviously sick looking and acting.. Probably hospitalized..

The only other thing about Cerebyx I found was:
"This medicine will add to the effects of alcohol and other CNS depressants (medicines that may make you drowsy or less alert). Some examples of CNS depressants are antihistamines or medicine for hay fever, other allergies, or colds; sedatives, tranquilizers, or sleeping medicine; prescription pain medicine or narcotics; barbiturates; other medicine for seizures; muscle relaxants; or anesthetics, including some dental anesthetics. Check with your doctor before taking any of the above while you are using this medicine."

If the brainwashing theory is still holding water (and I, for one, think it is), Cerebyx could have been used in conjunction with another drug to make Bree more pliable. I know that there are several different uses for other types of anti-seizure drugs than just for treating a seizure disorder, but it doesnt look like Cerebyx has another use other than treating seizures specifically *shrug*

I somehow do not think that these two are the drugs that we will ultimately learn were given to Bree. Their uses/administration methods just dont make sense. I guess we will see..

Actually, it can be used in either way, and in some countries outside the US it's been approved for intraveneous or intramuscular use. While it's only been approved for IV use in the US, it's not like the Order's followed several of society's other rules so far.

No. DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder - the technical term for multiple personalities) is rarely treated with medication, and if it were, I imagine that an SSRI or an atypical antipsychotic would be used, rather than an anticonvulsant.

"There are some indications that phenytoin has other effects, including anxiety control and mood stabilization, although it has never been approved for those purposes by the FDA....[phenytoin] made an appearance in the 1962 novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey, both as an anticonvulsant and as a mechanism to control inmate behavior."

Phenytoin is the compound to which cerebyx is metabolized in the body.
