Oh, I totally agree that for the plot it's not a justifiable reason, but a lot of us really don't like Jonas and really love Daniel, so when we thought this interloper was coming in to screw everything up, we had a knee-jerk reaction and the Creators probably panicked. Actually, I was wondering whether the sets were genuinely the same. How hard is it to set up a few bookshelves with bowling trophies?
