On June 19, 2007, it was announced that Neutrogena and Lonelygirl15 had struck an innovative promotional deal.  A new character would will be written into the script as an employee of Neutrogena.  This deal was reached after CAA approached Neutrogena to propose a tie-in between their cosmetic products and the show.  According to the article in Variety which first broke the story, the new character will be "a 22-year-old scientist who helps the series' lead characters create a serum in order to thwart an evil org known as the Order."

In the video In (Search of) sanity..., Jonas tells us that Spencer, Isaac Gilman's son, is a scientist working for Neutrogena.
