Transcript

(Sarah pops up in front of the camera in her room.)

Sarah: So! I called Carl for lunch today. Talk about a cheapskate. Ugh!

(Sarah falls backward onto the bed. Cut to her in the passenger seat of Carl's car as he drives.)

Sarah: You drive a BMW. I just thought that we'd go somewhere to eat that, you know, we didn't have to eat off of a carboard tray. (Pans the camera to show them parked in front of an In-N-Out.) I guess I just expected something more from a man on the Verdus payroll.

Carl: (Laughs.) I'm not with them anymore. I'm doing non-profit work now?

Sarah: Ah! Hence the drive-thru lunch.

Carl: Well it's nice to see you, too. (Laughs.)

Sarah: Hey. I brought the camera, so the relationship must be going somewhere. Besides, I had to get out of that house; it's like a fricking anxiety convention in there. (Rolls her eyes.)

Carl: 'Cause of Gina?

Sarah: Yeah. Come on, tell the truth: did you think that Bree's mom was expecting us outside Verdus?

Carl: Enough. It's, uh... It's obvious.

Sarah: What?

Carl: Well, they sent you, didn't they? Look, you're trying to dig up info on Bree's mom and that's why I get the random "Hey, let's go to lunch, Carl." (Laughs.) You know, subtlety's never been your strong suit. I know you, remember?

(Cut to Sarah sitting on the floor in front of her bed.)
