The founding of Thelema (in its modern form) is generally credited to the occultist [[Aleister Crowley]]. Initially, there was much speculation among fans that [[Bree]]'s religion was, in part, Thelemic in nature. This stemmed from the logo at the bottom of the [[lonelygirl15]] website (prior to the redesign), which contained a [[unicursal hexagram]] and the Greek writing for Thelema (θέλημα) to the right of LG15*

Some fans became upset as Bree's religion was portrayed in a negative light, and [[Email exchange with the Creators|emailed the Creators]] to find out why they had portrayed Thelema in such a manner. The Creators responded saying that Bree's religion was ''not'' Thelema, but a fictional religion (now known to be the [[Hymn of One]]) created for the purposes of their story. They followed this up with [[Learning Egyptian|a video]] from [[Gemma]] stating that the religion in the series was not Thelema.

After Daniel, [[Jonas]], [[Sarah]], and [[Emma]] were in [[Arizona]] for two weeks, Mallory worried how Daniel would be able to keep up with his class. She said that she had spoken to Mr. Banks, who told her that Daniel needed "to hit a home run on [his upcoming project] in order to pass the class." At this warning, Daniel decided to [[Student Film|work hard on his project]], but did not end up with a very good [[My School Project|final result]].

Mallory [[Please Help|spoke to Mr. Banks]] and found out that he was ready to fail Daniel on the spot. He said that "Daniel needs to commit to film-making, or just quit wasting his time." However, she begged him and was able to get an extension on the project until Friday, October 5th, 2007. Mallory then issued a plea to all of Daniel's online friends to help him create a better project. She said it wasn't cheating because technically the project was a "group project."

However, Daniel did not know of Mallory's plan, and when [[Tailgating|asked by Jonas]] about whether he was worried about his project, Daniel replied that he did not believe he would be allowed back in class.

Luckily, forty-three people submitted videos, and ultimately a [[Ninja Video by ElizKM86|version]] by [[ElizKM86]] was chosen. It is currently unknown how Mr. Banks responded to this new video.

Strangely, in later videos it is revealed that the film professor's name is [[Professor Delmundo]].

A legitimate religion, in my mind, is beliefs that center around a higher purpose, or, or meaning, and the dangerous thing about the Hymn of One is that it masquerades as a real religion, but its true purpose is the exact opposite. For example, they talk about free will a lot. Truthfully, it's just another way to make you feel empowered, when in fact they're getting you to do exactly what they want you to do: The Ceremony. Now, the Ceremony is the key. I wish that I knew more about it, but clearly it's very important to the Order. I mean, I walked right up to the edge of doing it, and I only knew the preparations for it. I know a lot of you signed up for the website at Hymn of One.org[http://www.hymnofone.org], but don't listen to them! They'll just end up sending you a bunch of religious gobbledy-gook. And like I said, not a real religion. It's hard to talk about all this stuff without the facts, so...back to work. Maybe one day, we'll have this all figured out.

The '''Hymn of One''', originally believed to be [[Thelema|Themeic]] in nature, is now known to be the [[Losing My Religion|religious front]] for a mysterious organization called [[the Order]]. Many argue that the HoO is not truly a religion, but [[It's A Cult|a cult]]. They note the HoO's brainwashing techniques, such as having members recite "[[It's A Cult|The Hymn of One is fun]]" repeatedly, as highly characterisitc of cultish behavior. They also [[Lying Bastards|allegedly advocate]] [[free will]], but, like most cults, do not truly believe in it. This is evidenced in the way they pursued [[Bree]] and tried to [[Miss Me?|manipulate her]] into doing [[the Ceremony (ritual)|the Ceremony]], even after she had [[I Listened To Daniel|decided against it]].

The religion uses a variety of recruitment methods, such as [[Sing With Me|promotional videos]], [[Spreading the Song|fliers]], and [[It's A Cult|seminars]]. They promote the idea that one can find eternal happiness by [[Sing Until The End|singing his eternal song]]. They also revere [[Aleister Crowley]] as an important figure in their system of beliefs, and quote him on their official website (http://www.hymnofone.org).

Most members of the Hymn of One are very naïve, and don't know anything about the Order whatsoever. They are told that their duty is to protect [[trait positive]] girls from [[Spreading the Song|the time they are born until the time they complete the Ceremony]], but have no knowledge of what the Ceremony actually is.

==Hymn of One Logo==

The Hymn of One's logo is an upside-down musical symbol known as a [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fermata fermata]. A fermata is used either over or, in the case of the upside-down fermata, under a note. It signifies that a note will be held out for longer than its true value. The actual value of a note with which a fermata is used is up to the conductor of the performer. However, the idea of using the symbol is that the note is held indefinitely. This alludes to the Hymn of One's mantra of "finding your eternal song".

==Bree's Mom's Involvement==
Bree [[Losing My Religion|says]] that her [[Bree's parents#Mother|mother]] was introduced to The Hymn of One by a university professor when she was studying at [[Scotland|Edinburgh]]. She mentions that her mother had been "looking for answers", and believed that she found them with the Hymn of One. Bree's father, however, noted some changes in his wife after she joined.
