Last week, Gina and I were [[Prom: It's To Die For - Part 4|getting ready]] for [[Prom: It's To Die For|prom]], and she told me a story about some trip she and [[Dr. Calvin Hart|Dr. Hart]] took. And they stayed at some place near a [[water theme|lake]]. And uh, she wasn't allowed to go near it because she didn't know how to swim. Anyway, she um, snuck out late one night, when everybody was asleep. She just wanted to dip her toes in the water, she said. And as she sat down in the dock, she was, you know, reaching her fingers in, and she just completely lost her grip. She lost her grip. And fell in. She said that uh, that first, she um, started to panic, and uh, started flailing her arms around. But obviously that didn't help any. So she took a deep breath and gathered all of her strength and just kept her body still 'til she was able to rise to the surface and float back to the dock and climb to safety. That sort of strength is, um... pretty rare. And I'm not going to second guess anything we did. I can't. I'm just gonna gather my strength, take a deep breath, and survive. Well, you guys will be happy to know that [[Sarah]]'s back at the house with us. She showed up randomly with some strange explanation of where she's been and what's happened to her. But whatever, that's her story to tell. You know, we're all grieving in our own way, but we definitely all agree on one thing, and that is [[Edward Salinas|Salinas]] is not going to get away with any of this. I'm really sorry, Gina. I'm really sorry we just couldn't do more for you. We're really going to miss you.

Anyone else find that these two episodes felt forced? Almost no buildup, and a quick ending. The free will espoused by [[Thelema]] (θέλημα) is a free will to act according to your True Will. As it states in the Book of the Law, ''"Thou hast no right but to do thy will."''. An interesting argument following this is that this principle actually ''forbids'' many things you might want to do - committing a crime, for example, or simple health-damaging acts like smoking. Because, as the reasoning goes, these acts, be it by leading to persecution or damage to one's health, restrict the individual's ability to act in fullness, and, as such, violate his own free will by disallowing him to do whatever he wants. (In other words: One is not allowed to restrict any person's freedom; since heavy smoking would restrict a person's ability to breathe freely, for example, a smoker is essentially restricting his own freedom, and, as such, violating the Law of Thelema by giving in to his desire to smoke.)

This interpretation is interesting as it might be the reasoning behind [[Bree's diet]] - making sure she's truly following and embracing her True Will, not violating it by health-damaging foods.

The Free Will as envisioned in Thelema is not anarchy, as it is not without law – each individual is bound to his own True Will and to developing it by experience. It is acknowledged by the Book that this will lead to conflict (''"As brothers fight ye!"''), however, according to the teachings, wherever the wills of two clash, ''one'' must be wrong.

In this context, another quote from the Book is interesting – ''"If he be a King, thou canst not hurt him."''. [[Bree's parents]] first met when her [[Elizabeth Avery|mother]] stepped into a discussion that her [[Drew Avery|Bree's father]] was having with a friend about the play [[Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead]].<ref name=parents>Bree's video [[How My Parents Met]]</ref> [[Elizabeth Avery|Bree's mother]] believed so passionately in free will, that she felt compelled to walk over to the man who was saying that determinism was the theme of the play ([[Drew Avery|Bree's father]]) and tell him that he was completely wrong.

On other occasions, it has been strongly implied that [[Bree]] had to do the [[Ceremony]] out of her own, free will, no matter what happens: Even after Bree was [[Psychological Torture|kidnapped and drugged]], the Order didn't just force her to do the Ceremony, but tried to "persuade" her to do it out of her own free will. Another indicator is [[Lying Bastards|an overheard phone call]] [[Alex]] had, in which she says about the same incident: "[...] I do care because it's a violation of free will and you know... Much of the [[Lonelygirl15|Lonelygirl15 series]] revolves around the mysterious Order and the obscure [[The Ceremony|ceremony]] that they want [[Bree]] or other [[trait positive]] girls to perform, apparently to benefit the Elders of the Order.

It is important to note that the concept of The Order and its factions has developed, and perhaps morphed, since Lonelygirl15 started. Sometimes it is difficult to reconcile references in early videos with later videos, though fans have proposed creative ways to harmonize inconsistencies similar to the work of Biblical scholars.

[[Bree]]'s early videos mentioned that she had been "religious" her whole life, but did not reveal the name of her religion. She did clarify that her religion was not Christianity.

An organization called "The Order of Denderah" was first mentioned in the video [[Learning To Drive]] (Sept. 20, 2006). In that video, [[Daniel]] and [[Bree]] argued about [[The Ceremony|Bree's ritual]] and she exclaimed that her parents were "not Order of Denderah!". A few weeks later in his [[Order Of Denderah]] video (Oct. 6, 2006), Daniel tried to research the Order of Denderah, for he suspected that it was, in fact, Bree's religion. The concern of many fans through this time period of the show was that Bree's religion was some type of evil cult.

==Controversies==
Not everyone is a fan of OpAphid, however.

The answer (phone number) to the [[Set of Five]] puzzle was kept secret for the first few hours after it was solved (at the request of OpAphid). We are told it was done to maintain the experience for those who wished to solve the puzzle themselves and earn the "well done" first heard upon calling the phone number. This left a bad taste in the mouths of many, both new players who don't understand why people aren't giving out the answers and veterans who aren't used to a PM who locks down their game to quite this level.

OpAphid has since stated that if there are to be any other "grace periods" on revealing the solution to a future puzzle, they will be limited to a span of 2-4 hours. Recent puzzles have had no such restrictions.

In [[Swimming!]], [[Bree]] talks about how she and Cassie used to walk around the track during Bree's brief enrollment in public school. When Bree asks [[Daniel]] about Cassie, he brushes it off and says he doesn't know who she's talking about.

Following this, Cassie became a central figure in many of the early [[OpAphid]] videos, from [[DO GO TO GOD, Cassie (for my helper)]] until [[Cassie Does Not R.I.P. (Rest In Peace)]]. However, due to the surreal, cryptic nature of these videos, it is not clear exactly what role she plays.

In "[[My Helper]]", Bree reveals that she did interact with Cassie outside of school for a bit, but Cassie was put off by [[Bree's religion]] and after [[Bree]] returned to homeschooling Cassie stopped calling her.

Bree mentions Cassie again in the video [[Bree Phone Home]]. She mentions that she got into trouble once for making prank phone calls with Cassie. Cassie would call people and try to freak them out by creepily whispering "I'm watching you..." She went too far and since the caller ID on their phone was not blocked, they got a lot of angry call backs from the people they had pranked. Bree says she took the blame when her parents confronted her. She stopped talking to Cassie after that and hasn't seen her since.

Some fans took this mention of Cassie as validation and closure of [[Cassieiswatching]]. In the [[Breeniverse]], Cassieiswatching was an extension of Cassie's prank calls. Cassie liked to mess with people, and could have started using [[YouTube]] when she noticed Bree was on it, probably as a means to get back and mess with Bree and her newfound friends, the [[lonelygirl15]] viewers. Cassieiswatching ended when Cassie went too far or got bored. Cassie is probably just a normal girl-next-door who is in touch with her dark side.

Because there were two female parts auditioned for in the original casting, many fans expected Cassie to appear later in the series. When [[Gemma]] was revealed as an official character, Cassie's appearance in the series became unlikely. [[The Creators]] have since repeated to fans that Cassie was nothing more than a former classmate of Bree's and her role was not intended to be larger than a mention.
