==No uploading??==

The "Upload File" function doesn't seem to be working since the site renovation (for me, anyway, and judging by the fact that [[Mission Possible]] still doesn't have a pic, probably for everyone else). Is someone actively working to fix this? (Please???) ~ '''[[User:Jbshryne|<span style="color:darkgreen">JB<small>SHRYNE</small></span>]]''' 17:33, 23 July 2007 (CDT)

:Hmm, I don't know, but it's not working for me either. Someone should probably send an email to the right person if no one already has. I'd do it myself, but I'm not sure if I should just send it straight to [[the Creators]] or to someone else. If it's not fixed in the next few hours and no one has responded here, I'll go ahead and send them an email.--[[User:Jonpro|Jonpro]] 19:18, 23 July 2007 (CDT)
We can upload files now (and quite amusingly, [[User:EmoGlasses|EmoGlasses]] and I uploaded nearly identical pictures, respectively called NinjaSpencer and SpencerNinja). However, the picture doesn't appear on the episode template, and in its place is a distracting error message. ==Missions Page==
I was thinking about having a missions page for the lonelygirl5 characters. Like a list of their missions, and what worked, what didn't, who was involved, why were they doing this. Sort of like one part of it could be about obtaining jules. Does anyone think we should do that, or not? Does anyone have any new missions? Like they can work with me to find all missions.[[User:Houdini|Houdini]] 23:14, 24 July 2007 (CDT)
:I support this idea. It's good to gather information on a wiki. Anyhow, the capturing of Jules, the getting Bree back millions of times, the breaking into Lucy's apartment twice, the whole deal. Should we create it at [[Missions]]? <span style="background:DarkSlateGray">[[User:SilverBULLETx3|<font color="white">&nbsp;&nbsp;'''•Silver•'''&nbsp;&nbsp;</font>]] <small>[[User talk:SilverBULLETx3|<font color="white">Talk</font>]] | [[Special:Contributions/SilverBULLETx3|<font color="white">Contribs</font>]]</small></span> 11:27, 25 July 2007 (CDT)
::We could do the capturing of Jules, the Vegas capturing of BDJ, the tailing of Alex, the search for Isaac Gilman, the race to contact Spencer Gilman, Daniel breaking into the EPOGEN warehouse, Daniel breaking into Lucy's apartment, the Mexico capturing of Alex by Lucy, getting Bree back, Bree escaping to be with her fellow Hymnies, getting Bree back again, the Order murdering Drew and Isaac, Brother murdering Gemma, Tachyon exposing Gemma, and so the saga continues. :::What was harsh about that? If all other discussions on this page get replies but this one doesn't, that ''is'' a pretty good indicator that nobody cares. There's nothing harsh about that, and it's not even ment in an insulting way. That's just how it is. As I said, on a technical level, he's right, so there's probably no one here who'd object - but on a practical level, everything works, so no one here is motivated to change it, either. So, nobody cares. If he wants to change it, fine. If not, everything still works. Nothing harsh about it. Just human nature.
:::And that enthusiastic thing was pointing out that, even though you are involved in everything and always happy to edit and start new projects, not even ''you'' cared before you saw me reference you. I was just trying to put the lack of interest into perspective.
in a few months, and no one will be able to tell which blablabla belongs to KM and which to LG15. :If the KM is at the beginning it is easier to sort through a whole bunch of files ordered alphabetically (i.e. the LG and KM files separate out as Renegade mentioned). Could LGBot categorize by looking at the file name? ==Location pages for KM==
About Location pages for KM... we may want to wait a bit before we decide how to do this because at this rate they'll be filming all over London. So we could end up with:
*By City - "Images of London."
*By Postcode - "Images of EC1", "Images of W1" etc. (London postcodes that UK people will easily understand and can be explained to others - EC1 = East Central 1, W1 = West 1 etc.) Advantage = exact with no discussion required.
*By London Area Name - "Images of Spitalfields", "Images of Soho" etc. (these are the names of small areas of London). Advantage = friendly names rather than impersonal postcodes but there are grey areas as it were on deciding where one area starts and another ends.
*By Street Name - "Images of Brushfield Street", "Images of Carnaby Street" etc. This could become a problem given the number of streets that will be filmed upon.
*All of the above so you can browse images however you like. Disadvantage = lot of work for every image.
[[User:Psmith|Psmith]] 18:25, 18 August 2007 (CDT)

:Shoot. Okay, well I was just going to do the ones you took of Carnaby Street, simply because it was a notable location where a major fan interaction took place. I figured for the episodes where they were just out and about in London, we could do a "General London area" or whatnot. I think with the big thing that just happened at Carnaby St, it's worth a location page, IMO. Er, do you disagree? Blah... --[[User:Zoey|Zoey]] 18:33, 18 August 2007 (CDT)
::Given a lot of the pics are actually Broadwick St. rather than Carnaby St., my first instinct is "Images of Soho". Especially as more videos may be set in and around these streets given how the Bebo offices are located there. Tariq/Gavin will probably be filmed a lot around Spitalfields/EC1 given that's where their office is supposed to be. But then I understand that maybe someone just wants to search on "Carnaby Street" because of how prominent the street name is in all the videos and interaction. So maybe it should just be "Images of the Carnaby Street area" which is more accurate but longwinded. [[User:Psmith|Psmith]] 19:27, 18 August 2007 (CDT)

:::Well, as for the categories themselves, I see no reason not to make specific categories and then group them all into <nowiki>[[Category:Images of London]]</nowiki> or something similar. As far as location pages, I also don't see why we can't have specific pages for notable locations.. and maybe have a "General London area" page... similar to how we have a specific page for [[Topanga Canyon]] but still have one for [[General LA area]]. I think this works nicely... not sure though? What do you think? :/ --[[User:Zoey|Zoey]] 23:54, 19 August 2007 (CDT)
::::Ah... actually I meant to say "location categories" in the first place and not "location pages" (by which you mean the articles I presume). Woops.
::::It would be nice to have both a London category and subcategories for different parts of London. My rather pedantic point about "Carnaby Street" is that maybe "Carnaby Street area" is more accurate given most of the action took place on Broadwick Street. And yes we definitely need a location ''page'' for this. [[User:Psmith|Psmith]] 15:48, 20 August 2007 (CDT)
== Re-Organization Day ==
Okay, this conversation has been going on for a while, and now I'm starting to agree with it. We need to find a way to separate KateModern and LG15. The answer: change everything from [[Characters]] to KM:Characters and LG:Characters. Sounds easy, right? Wrong-o. There has to be an easier way to do it. There needs to be some idea that we can do and devote a day to changing links and reorganizing the entire LGPedia. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but we gotta do something... fast. The only thing I can suggest thats better is for the tech people at LG15.com to set up another wiki. That'd be the easiest thing to do (and probably most organized) {{User:-R-/SignatureD|Sept. 21, '07 - 9:25 PM}}
:I'm sorry, I don't really see what you are talking about. There ARE seperate pages for [[KM Characters|KateModern characters]] and [[Characters|Lonelygirl15 characters]]. == Vandalism ==
I was shocked by the amount of vandalism that is talking place on the lgpedia lately. I just went to recent changes and half of them were banning of vandals/spammers. This is becoming a serious problem, as our hardworking members should not have to constantly ban all these IP addresses when their time could be better spent.
:I'm glad you started the discussion. I'm not really sure what the best solution is this time. Before, when the spamming took the form of external links, we were able to filter those by requiring verification when an external link was added. The only solution I can think of for this problem is to require something similar for every edit that is made. I'm not sure if it'd be possible to restrict that to anonymous users or not, but if so that's a possibility. The obvious downside is that it could become a huge hassle for people trying to edit normally. But maybe there's a creative solution that hasn't occurred to me. Besides, being a place that ''anyone'' can edit is somewhat of a cardinal rules of wikis in general. :Ricket makes a good point. Surely Registering for an account can't be that big of a deal? I see a lot more benefits than, er, non-benefits, from requiring a username to make edits. From what I've seen, of the dozens of spammers/vandals banned, only one or two were registered users. But seeing as so many people are against it, maybe we could require some question to be answered?
::Erm, no. Maybe ''that'' would be a hassle. I mean, ''that'' will discourage even more users from editing. (Laziness factor) I've been up until 5 in the morning on LG15 ('cause I have no life) and about more than 90% of the vandalisms that occur during that time is from non-registered people. I've only seen one registered user vandalize and one non-registered person actually contribute to the LGPedia. I do understand that we are trying to include everyone, and that that's what a wiki is all about, but you gotta decide which is th lesser evil: Cutting out non-registered people out and prevent vandalism, or allow everyone to participate even if that includes vandalism. I doubt that this xwestsidex fellow isn't gonna stop any time soon. And who knows? Maybe other people who aren't xwestsidex will vandalize under that alias, just for the fun of vandalizing. Then the problem will ''never'' go away. I don't think, in my opinion, it's worth it. It'll just make the LG15 experience more enjoyable and less of a chore to edit. --[[User:Free2liv4evr|free2liv4evr]] 11:57, 30 October 2007 (PST)
== KMProduction and Sophie Recap vids deleted?? ==

Just wondering, why were my KateModern Production and Sophie Recap videos deleted? The pages, I mean. The KateModern Production videos are very much a part of KM and the Sophie Recap videos were posted on the official KateModernLG15 YouTube account, as well as Sophie's own Bebo. And Sophie is just as much official as Nikki B is on LG. So, why were they deleted? <span style="background:DarkSlateGray">[[User:SilverBULLETx3|<font color="white">&nbsp;&nbsp;'''•Silver•'''&nbsp;&nbsp;</font>]] <small>[[User talk:SilverBULLETx3|<font color="white">Talk</font>]] | [[Special:Contributions/SilverBULLETx3|<font color="white">Contribs</font>]]</small></span> 15:40, 30 October 2007 (CDT)

:Looking at the [[Special:Log/Delete|deletion log]], [[User:Zoey|Zoey]] put "see [[Talk:Portal:KateModern]]" (I added the link) as the reason for the deletion. I looked there and there seems to be part of an explanation for why the videos shouldn't be included in the official list, but I'm not sure why they can't have pages. Back in the [[List of New Girl Candidates|new ceremony girl]] phase, there were a lot of videos that got pages because they were related to the lonelygirl15 story. Unless there's an explanation somewhere that I'm missing, I'm for restoring the video pages. But since Zoey deleted them, I'll wait for her response before I do anything.--[[User:Jonpro|Jonpro]] 13:45, 31 October 2007 (CDT)

::I understand Zoey's point but I still think that since the videos were made by the official KM team, they should at least have pages on here. Don't include them in the list, as they're not canon persay, but they still deserve a page.
::<span style="background:DarkSlateGray">[[User:SilverBULLETx3|<font color="white">&nbsp;&nbsp;'''•Silver•'''&nbsp;&nbsp;</font>]] <small>[[User talk:SilverBULLETx3|<font color="white">Talk</font>]] | [[Special:Contributions/SilverBULLETx3|<font color="white">Contribs</font>]]</small></span> 15:50, 31 October 2007 (CDT)

I deleted the KateModern production videos because they are ''not'' official videos by any means, they are just BTS extras for anyone who wants to watch them. Not to mention, they are heavily edited and would be hard to transcribe. There's really no purpose to doing so because they don't futher the story in any way. It's like offering a "script" to the bonus features on a DVD. That seems silly. Why not just link to the bonus features and let whomever wants to enjoy them enjoy them?

About Sophie's videos, I removed them because, they, too, would be hard to transcribe, and are literally just recuts of what already exists in all of the previous transcripts, whereas the lg15 recaps are actual... recaps. But the big deciding factor for me was their lack of placement in the official list of Katemodern videos on the Bebo page.

I know that we created a bajillion pages way back in the day of the "new girls," and I'm on purpose trying to avoid going that route again. It was chaos trying to keep up, and I was the one who ended up taking the grunt of the work. For me, it's way more important to focus on videos that are actually important in furthering the two main story than "extras" that are unnecessary and can be understood by watching the other videos or reading the other transcripts. If someone wants to ''personally'' take responsibilty for the maintenance of the pages, and not just create them and never transcribe them... or start out working on them and then give up (meaning this would be something you'd have to keep up long term, because I do not personally see the point of doing any more than just linking to the pages and will therefore not be responsible for their upkeep), then fine, I will undelete them. But if they are just going to sit there as halfway completed pages, there is no reason for them to be created as pages on here. They aren't official, they don't further the stories, and they can, and most likely ''will'' end up just cluttering the LGPedia if people don't actively take responsiblity for them. So yes, that was my logic, at least. --[[User:Zoey|Zoey]] 20:36, 31 October 2007 (CDT)

:'''PS''' I thought I should note, the recap videos haven't been ''totally'' removed from the LGPedia by any means. They are still listed on: [[Sophie]]. And the BTS videos are still listed on [[KateModern]].

== Transcript ==
'''Jules:''' This blog is about mi escuela. No tengo gusto. As you can tell, my parents make me study a ''lot''. I do enjoy it, but sometimes I wish I was doing something else. Like this! Making videos is ''so'' fun. Like [[He's a monster, I promise!! | the one with my cat]]. It was so silly. But it kept my mind off my studying. But my parents have been seeing me play with the video camera a lot... and they're getting sort of... mad at me. They have really strict beliefs, which doesn't include broadcasting your feelings or anything else on the internet. But I enjoy it, and talking to you guys is so much fun. Since my parents are getting upset at me for using the camera so much, I may have to stop making the videos. And it's not like something I do behind their backs. They're ''always'' around. You see, I'm homeschooled. Lame, I know. So, I've been homeschooled for several years. Which means I don't get to interact with friends or other people like public schools do. So, I guess that's why I enjoy making videos. So, I'm gonna try to make more videos and stay in touch with everyone. But, I guess that's all for now. So adiós, and good bye.

== Notes ==
*"Mi escuela" means "my school" in Spanish.
*Jules used the phrase "no tengo gusto" incorrectly. In Spanish, "no tengo gusto" means "I have no taste", as in "I have no taste in clothes". If Jules meant to say "I don't like it", referring to being homeschooled, she should have said "No me gusta".
*She is starting to show more similarities with Bree's early videos. For instance, she is homeschooled, and has very strict parents. Bree also didn't tell her parents about the videos.

The '''office park''' is a location seen in the video [[Where Are They Going?]]
[[Bree]] and [[Lucy]] are seen in the video while [[Daniel]] films.
There has been a lot of speculation that [[Lucy]] could have been taking [[Bree]] to get shots or a medical check up in preparation for the ceremony.
After Daniel [[Following The Helper|finds pictures]] of himself on [[Lucy]]'s computer, he goes to stay at his friend '''Paul's house'''. After a while, [[Bree]] joined him there as well. Soon, he and Bree left to go [[On The Run|on the run]], but Daniel left her once she decided to stay with [[Jonas]]. Soon, Daniel found that [[OpAphid]] had planted a camera in his room, and he, once again, returned to Paul's house.

Not much of the house is seen, but Daniel is able to record a video in front of a chain-link fence outside. The fence appears to have triple barbed wire along the top, indicating it may be a secure zone. In addition to that, we hear a lot of traffic noise, suggesting it is beside a major road or freeway.
'''Alex:''' (''Alone, speaking to camera'') So, I am on my way to a place that will remain nameless, and I'll probably be there for a very long time, (''Whispers'') I know. Before I go, though, I just--I wanted to clear the air and say that I'm sorry about what happened to you guys in [[Subjects Apprehended|Vegas]]. I take full responsibility for what that Shadow member did to you, and I'm really, really, really, really sorry. Now that my... loyalties have realigned themselves, so to speak, I wanted to give you guys some advice as you begin your new search for [[Bree]]. You're not safe. These men (''Shots of large, thuggish-looking males'') will be following you, if they haven't started already. They're called [[Shadows]], they're the bodyguards of the [[Elders]]. They're physically augmented by a variety of pharmaceuticals; [[Following the Drugs - NBR Investigates|Modafinil, Anabolic Steroids, Amphetamines]]. They don't need to sleep and they're stronger and faster than the average person. This does come at a cost though, which is that most of them don't make it past the age of 30. Shadow members can be distinguished from other people by the omicron tattoo on their forearm. In the center of the omicron lies an upside down tau. Watch out for these men, they are maniacs. This gentleman (''shots of a Watcher, from "[[Watch This!]]" video'') is a [[Watcher]]. He's part of a 20-member team whose only mission is to protect girls like Bree. They have no knowledge whatsoever of [[the Ceremony]], they've never even heard of it. They're members of the [[Hymn of One]] and they don't know anything about [[the Order]], its intentions, its makeup; they don't even know the Order exists. Be that as it may, Watchers will absolutely use violence if violence is used first, and if that's the case, watch out! These guys make Marine Corps look like Quakers (''Clip of shooting from "[[Communication Terminated]]" video''). Seriously. Watchers are identifiable by this tattoo (''Shot of Watcher symbol tattoo''). It's similar to an Order [[Bree's disk|symbol]], but you guys should know that already. Remember what [[Gemma]] (''chuckles'') told you a long time ago? One last note about the Shadows: they will never leave the side of an Elder unless they're given permission to do so. If that happens, '''be far away'''. They are the Earth's true menace. But, you knew that already, you've already been in their company. I'm, um, I'm sorry that my farewell hasn't been more uplifting but it is--it is imperative that you know the danger that you're getting into. And I just hope that your friendship with Bree is worth it, because (''Pauses'') the danger you're inviting upon yourself could cost you your lives.

'''Tachyon''' is the second major player in the [[OpAphid]] storyline/[[ARG]]. Tachyon, which is the code name for an operative who infiltrated the OpAphid organization, is the spokeswoman for most of the opposition to OpAphid's activities. We were first introduced to Tachyon when OpAphid informed us that someone had [[The Action of an Enemy - Be Careful|stolen]] a significant amount of confidential information from one of their information-gathering facilities, and asked us to track the thief for clues about what [[Drop 1 (bowling for light)|information]] had been stolen and where it might be headed. Further search revealed the thief to be Tachyon, a spy for another secret organization known sometimes as The Family, The Bureau, The Ring, or just Mom and Dad.

For reasons unknown to us, Tachyon has not chosen, or has not been able, to go "home" to Mom and Dad. Instead, she has conveyed her stolen information, as well as anything new that she learns or discovers, through her partner, codenamed "[[Brother]]" or "10033." Brother and Tachyon, who are not actually related, communicate through voicemail, [[Tachyon's Profile Updates Archive|YouTube profile updates]], and [[Everything You Need To Play OpAphid#Previous Drops:|drops]], or physical locations where Tachyon leaves items for Brother to recover. It appears that although Tachyon frequently finds Brother irritating, dense, and slow, she does what she can to protect and help him (such as keeping OpAphid from blowing him up, and facilitating his attack on Gemma).

Tachyon herself is well-characterized by her YouTube tagline about her location: "By the time you know, I'll already be gone." She responds to some people who send her messages via YouTube, but her replies can be witty, helpful, vague, misleading, or simply unrelated to the question asked, seemingly on a whim. She dislikes giving out information about herself or her past, although some of her communication has suggested that she might be connected to the family [[Gemma]] talks about in her video "[[They Disappeared...]]," even as the information she leaves behind reveals more and more about her own personal story. Tachyon does not appear to stay in one place for any length of time, if she can help it, and is extremely fond of codes and cryptography, which she often employs to protect the information she distributes.

Tachyon was first discovered by YouTube user LonWpnX who looked up all the [[LG15]] tags. The similar style to OpAphid and the similar story to Bree caught their eye. When the user was subscribed to, the vids were pulled until the release of [[The Action of an Enemy - Be Careful]].

Just like her enemy [[OpAphid]], Tachyon logged into her [[YouTube]] account on May 24th, 2007, leaving this farewell message:

Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it.
xoxox,
T
--
Lately, I am not having the easiest time with the situation i am in. But i can handle it,
right? What other choice do I have?

==Identity==
There has been much speculation as to the true identity of Tachyon, especially after the video [[The Human Ransom]]. A [http://youtube.com/watch?v=oCYIyoSCnrc video] posted by xitsMx suggests that Tachyon is indeed [[Cassie]], and some fans also think this could be the case. Others have suggested that she is the girl that [[Gemma]] mentioned in the video [[They Disappeared...]]. Some have even gone so far as to suggest that it is Gemma herself. There has also been more tentative speculation that Tachyon may be [[Nikki Bower]], and although there are some links and similarities, it is a much more abstract thought to prove.

==Other Name Meaning==
Tachyon is also a hypothetical particle that moves faster than the speed of light. In the language of special relativity, a tachyon is a particle with space-like four-momentum and imaginary proper time. A tachyon is constrained to the space-like portion of the energy-momentum graph. Therefore, it can never slow to light speed or below. To date, the existence of tachyons has been neither confirmed nor explicitly ruled out.

'''Revver''' is a video sharing website that hosts user-generated content. [http://www.revver.com Revver] attaches advertising to user-submitted video clips and shares all ad revenue 50/50 with the Creators. Videos can be displayed, downloaded and shared across the web in either Apple QuickTime or FLV format.

==History==
Revver was founded by Steven Starr, Ian Clarke, and Oliver Luckett in 2004, and is currently based in Los Angeles. [http://www.revver.com The website itself], however, did not launch until November 2005. The company has received investment from [http://www.bvp.com/ Bessemer Venture Partners], Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Draper Richards, William R. Hearst, III, Comcast Interactive Capital and Turner Broadcasting.

The current version of the site, '''Revver 1.0''' was released in September 2006. This included a new design, user dashboard, a web based uploader and Flash as a video delivery method. Around the same time as the release, prominent [[YouTube]] user lonelygirl15 signed a promotional deal with Revver.

The site has grown slowly in popularity. Shortly prior to its relaunch, only around 20,000 videos were available on the site. By mid-October this number had almost quintupled to 100,000. The site's most popular user, a creator of videos mixing Mentos into Coke, had generated around $30,000.

Revver released its {{wikipedia|Application_programming_interface|API}} in September, 2006. Developers using the API can build a website with all the features on [http://www.revver.com Revver.com] and have complete access to the full Revver library of videos.

==Revenue Model==
Revver is one of the first video-sharing websites to monetize user-generated content through advertising. Revver's system is often compared to Google's Adwords, but for video rather than websites.

The key technology behind Revver is the '''RevTag''', a tracking tag that is attached to videos that users upload. The RevTag automatically displays a static, clickable advert at the end of each video. When viewers click on it, the advertiser is charged and the advertising fee is split between the video creator and Revver.

RevTags are trackable across the web so users are encouraged to share Revver videos as widely as possible. Since the RevTag is part of the video file itself (thanks to the interactivity made possible by Flash-based video players and by the QuickTime format), the technology works no matter where the video file is hosted or displayed, be it at Revver.com, at another website, or in a user's hard drive or portable video player. Therefore Revver's monetization of the video is not hampered by the downloading or sharing of the video file by users.

The only circumstance where the RevTag can fail to load an ad, or to register an ad click, is if the device playing the video is not connected to the internet, in which case a default "Brought to you by Revver" message is shown at the end. Of course, if the video file is transcoded into a different format (such as by uploading it to YouTube or Google Video, or by running it through a program that changes the format of the video file, e.g. into MPEG or RealPlayer), then the RevTag would almost certainly be lost.

The Revver website provides tools for sharing including RSS, podcasting, and embeddable FLV or QuickTime players. This minimizes any added benefits of transcoding. Revver thus makes it easy for creators and fans to embed the video anywhere while still in its original RevTagged version.

Users are further encouraged to share by Revver's affiliate program. An Affiliate is a user who helps to promote their favorite videos (or any videos they believe will become popular), be it through email, sneakernet, peer-to-peer sharing, or posting on their own website or on social-networking webpages. Revver affiliates earn 20% of ad revenue for sharing videos. The remaining revenue for each video is split 50/50 between the video creator and Revver. This is possible because the RevTag in a video file that is promoted by an affiliate contains information not only about the video being played but also about the affiliate.

Creators are able to restrict what kinds of advertisements may be placed at the end of their videos. Similarly, advertisers may choose to request that their ads be shown in videos of certain categories (such as videos that are most popular on certain websites), thus allowing them to better target their desired demographics.

To enable lawful sharing of Revver vidoes, the Revver upload license allows for redistribution under the Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 2.5 Creative Commons License.

==On Lg15.com==
[[Lg15.com]] used to put videos on the site using Revver altough recently it changed to Youtube.

==Criticism==
One of the complaints about Revver is viewer privacy − in order to download the ad, the video file must contact the Revver servers with information about the video (at least the category, possibly the video ID). In the words of CEO Steven Starr, 'everywhere it's going, it's saying "hey, I'm being watched"' (Oct 17th, 2006 at USC). This conflicts with viewers' privacy expectations when they're playing the video from a source that's not normally tracked (such as their own hard disks).
