The usage of the '''Moonchild''' term in relation to the [[Lonelygirl15]] story stems from a lot of loosely-based conjecture on the part of a number of forum posters and a series of events that were occurring at the time leading up to the [[The Ceremony (ritual)|ceremony]]. There was no solid link between the LG15 series and the Moonchild concept. With the coming of Crowleymas on October 12th, the anticipated date for the ceremony and anti-climatic nature of the day resulting from a faked ceremony, the Moonchild theory has grown even farther from "Breeality" than the moon itself is from the Earth. The Moonchild concept has however, made its way into [[Lonelygirl15]] [[LG15 Spin-offs|Fanfiction]] and response videos.

==What is a Moonchild?==

The concept of the Moonchild ({{wikipedia|Moonchild|Wikipedia}}) was created by [[Aleister Crowley]] in his book bearing that name. The Moonchild is an homunculus that is in essence an ethereal being which would play a role in bringing about Armageddon and a resulting new age of Horus. There have been two pervasive themes within these theories. The first was that the Order would attempt to impregnate Bree during the ceremony with a Moonchild type being. The second theory was that Bree was herself a Moonchild. One element fueling this came from Bree mentioning that the other kids called her "Stargirl". While not identical, the usage of other celestial bodies linked with the term for a female child drew some further conjecture that Bree was a special child, maybe an ethereally-conceived being. Recently, it has been confirmed that Bree was indeed a special child within the Order. She was identified as a potential candidate for the ceremony as a baby and placed with a hand-picked family to be raised as their own, as were many other children across the globe. Apparently only a very select few of these children are ever deemed adequately suited for the ceremony. Bree was one of these chosen children. While still a stretch, this new revelation does crack the door ever so slightly for Bree to have some role in a Moonchild scenario.

There were echoes of Bree's videos from the first, such as complaining about feeling trapped in a strict, dull lifestyle dictated by her parents, and the fact that she was learning a language "you're probably not even familiar with." ==Confirmation==
At that time, there were several possible "New Girls," including [[Taylor]], whose first video appeared the same week as Jules's. But on April 16th, 2007, in the video [[The Ceremony Girl?! - NBR Investigates]], [[Nikki Bower]] singled Jules out as the possible replacement for [[Bree]] in the [[The Ceremony (ritual)|Ceremony]]. Bree, at this time in hiding with [[Daniel]] and [[Jonas]] in [[the bunker]], took notice of this information in [[New Girl]], posted on April 17th, 2007, and said, referring to Jules, "I'm not gonna let the Order do to her what they tried to do to me." Bree's focus on Jules continued over her next two videos, [[Sloppy Drunk]] and [[Blog Girl]] (both made in the bunker), in which she analyzed the information in Jules's continuing series of YouTube videos and MySpace blog posts, described her attempts to contact Jules, and asked for help from fans on the forum. Her growing desire to rescue Jules and prevent her from doing the Ceremony is evident throughout these videos.

==Search==
On April 25th, 2007, Taylor posted a video, [[I Recognize Her!]], referring to Jules as "Julie," and saying that she thought she recognized her as a girl who had played on a rival soccer team in her area the previous year. Bree took notice of this information on April 26th, 2007 in [[A Solid Lead]], which turned out to be the last video from the bunker. On April 29th, 2007, Bree posted [[OUT OF THE BUNKER!!!]] and revealed that she, Daniel, and Jonas were on their way to [[Zavalla]] (referred to as "a teeny-eensy-weensy little town" in Texas) to meet Taylor, try to find Jules, and talk to her, although Bree had enough foresight to recognize and state that "this could be a trap."

Upon arriving in Zavalla, the three had a startling meeting with Taylor's sister [[Sarah]] in [[Crazy Emo Chick]] (May 1st, 2007), in which Sarah, in her first LG15 appearance, briefly took Daniel hostage by sticking her lipstick in his back and pretending that it was a gun. All five of them searched for Jules in the May 2nd, 2007 video [[No Trespassing]], in which Taylor appeared as canon for the first time, and her astounding computer skills were revealed. On May 4th, 2007 [[We Found Julia!!!]] was posted, which showed Bree accosting Jules on her way home and attempting to talk to her; however, Jules pushed Bree away and ran off. This was Jules's first physical appearance in an LG15 video as a canon character.

==Kidnapping==
In [[It's Not Kidnapping]] on May 7th, 2007 the plot took a surprising turn, as [[BDJ]] kidnapped Jules. Although Bree had seemed increasingly anxious to convince Jules not to do the Ceremony, this video revealed that she was willing to rationalize violence and illegal acts to do so. [[NaÃ¯ve Girl]] (May 8th, 2007) showed Jules's defiance and Bree's uncertainty as to whether she had done the right thing. BDJ were shown reacting to Jules's escape in [[She's Missing]] on May 9, and her recapture was referred to in Jonas's video [[Aiding and Abetting]] on May 10th, 2007. Jonas, throughout the kidnapping episode, was clearly and vocally opposed to this course of action, and concerned about Jules' well-being, while Daniel was also worried, but committed to supporting Bree's efforts.

==Last appearance==
On May 11th, 2007, [[What the F*@k???]] was posted, in which BDJ and Jules were found by the Order. Their car was forced to the side of the road and Jules, then Bree, got out of the car. Bree walked over to where Jules was standing with [[Lucy]] and a [[Watcher]], spoke briefly to Lucy, and then got in the car with the three of them and drove off, leaving Daniel and Jonas frantic and bewildered. They stayed in Zavalla another week and were shown stealing Jules's medical records, with Sarah and (especially) Taylor's help, on May 18th, 2007 in the video [[Let's Play Doctor]]. These records indicated that Jules was [[trait positive|trait negative]], which confirmed that she could not have been a candidate for the Ceremony. Daniel and Jonas left Zavalla the next day and returned to [[Jonas's house]].

Jules's videos and blog posts ended at the time she was kidnapped, and she has not been seen as an active character again.

It appears to be a complex organization with multiple factions and positions, and still not fully-explained purposes.

Much of the [[Lonelygirl15|Lonelygirl15 series]] revolves around the mysterious Order and the obscure [[The Ceremony (ritual)|ceremony]] that they want [[Bree]] or other [[trait positive]] girls to perform, apparently to benefit the Elders of the Order.

It is important to note that the concept of The Order and its factions has developed, and perhaps morphed, since Lonelygirl15 started. Sometimes it is difficult to reconcile references in early videos with later videos, though fans have proposed creative ways to harmonize inconsistencies similar to the work of Biblicial scholars.{{clr}}

The Order is very secretive about its operations. [[Bree]]'s early videos mentioned that she had been "religious" her whole life, but did not reveal the name of her religion. She did clarify that her religion was not Christianity.

An organization called "The Order of Denderah" was first mentioned in the video [[Learning To Drive]] (Sept. 20, 2006). In that video, [[Daniel]] and [[Bree]] argued about [[The Ceremony (ritual)|Bree's ritual]] and she exclaimed that her parents were "not Order of Denderah!". A few weeks later in his [[Order Of Denderah]] video (Oct. 6, 2006), Daniel tried to research the Order of Denderah, for he suspected that it was, in fact, Bree's religion. The concern of many fans through this time period of the show was that Bree's religion was some type of evil cult.

==Religious Influences of The Order==
Although [[the Creators]] [[Email exchange with the Creators|have claimed]] that they do not want the Order to be associated with any one religion, many references to existing religions can be found throughout the series. These references include:

*Bree attended summer camp in the summers of 2005 and 2006 with peers from her religion in which they put on a play about Pilgrims arriving at Plymouth and the adventures that they had.

*Bree's mention of her mother's strong belief in [[free will]], as well as other references to the importance of free will in choosing to do the Ceremony.

As you can see, these Orange Slurpees and possibly other Orange products (i.e Orange Juice), are very serious and VERY destructive. However, Orange Slurpee has started a {{myspace|orange_slurpee|website}} in his/her/its defense, stating that OS is unaffiliated with the Order and actually has NO evil intentions.

The word ''orange'' appears as a tag to Gemma's video [[A Watcher]].

Shortly after this website was erected, the "[[Breakfast In Bed]]" video clip came out, showing multiple images and references to oranges. Orange Slurpee commented on this in the most recent OS blog. Fans speculate that these images were foreshadowing of the impending danger of the [[Watcher | Watchers]] facing Bree and Daniel.

[[Jonas]] went on record in the LG15 chat on 27 November 2006 as being a fan of orange Slurpees and one who hangs around at the local 7-Eleven. Also, the clock in [[Jonas's house]] was set to approximately 7:11 in the video [[Trust Issues]]

Dr. Immant, in his most recent video, [[Order Announcement: New Policy to Combat Misinformation.]], making a public announcement, sipped on a Slurpee saying "mmm orange" when he thought he was no longer on the air.

==Background==
Jonas's parents were (until recently) thought to be [[Happy Thanksgiving|lost at sea]] several years ago while sailing around the [[Longitude 140|140th longitude]]; no wreckage was ever found. [[Jonas]] explained this incident in his earlier videos, but offered no explanation for their mysterious disappearance. He later mentioned that they used to [[Interrogation 101|"do weird stuff"]], and that they were traveling all the time, or constantly out on their boat.

In later videos, more information about his parents began to surface. His father was in an [[On The Road Again|anti-Order movement]] and wrote a thesis on it, which was shared with many high-profile people. His parents also started a foundation, the goal of which has not yet been revealed.

When Jonas visited his [[Alex|aunt's]] house, he discovered a [[My Hand Hurts|scrapbook of news clippings]] compiled by her. The initials of the people his father CC'd on the thesis matched the people who had disappeared. He took this to mean that they had been working for the resistance together and gotten snuffed out by [[the Order]]. Jonas assumed that the scrapbook meant his aunt, [[Alex]], was also part of the resistance, however [[Tachyon]] and [[Bree]] suspected [[Lucy!?!?!|otherwise]], warning Jonas against staying with his aunt. When he confronted Alex, she confessed her [[Alex Is...|true allegiances]] and that she did, indeed, betray his parents. Adding insult to injury, Alex claimed that they were still alive and that they probably didn't remember him.

==Reunion==
In [[Remember Them?]], [[Claire|LaRezisto]] showed images of a couple, claiming they were Jonas's parents. He intimated that their memories had somehow been erased, and urged Jonas to come find them. Jonas [[Hey Dad|soon revealed]] that they were, in fact, his parents, but that he had no intention of trying to find them, angrily blaming them for abandoning him. After realizing that LaRezisto was also filming him, Jonas went to find [[A Family Affair|his family]], hoping to help in the resistance.

When Jonas met his parents again, they invited him in, but greeted him with skepticism because they didn't remember who he was. Jonas said that they had a picture of him as a child and was convinced they remembered him deep down inside. At this reunion, he was introduced to his younger sister [[Emma]].

==Anger at Jonas==
After finding out that Emma was the new [[trait positive]] ceremony girl, Jonas made plans to take her and hide, however, the Order [[Home Invasion|invaded their home]] and tried to take her by force. Jonas's parents were shot in the struggle, however the injuries were not serious. Jonas and Daniel dropped them off at the hospital before leaving for [[Arizona]].

Jonas did not speak with his parents for a while, but [[Batting Practice|called them]] after [[Watch Your Back|losing Emma]]. He spoke to his father, who said that he did not believe anything Jonas had said, and wanted nothing further to do with him unless he had Emma. Later, in the video [[What Happened?]], they talk to Emma and say: "Jonas is not gonna bother you ever again. We won't let that happen." Later, Emma [[Killers at the Door?!|runs away]] to find Jonas when her parents won't listen to her about her noticeable similarities to [[Gina]], a girl who died from turning trait negative.

After decoding a message from [[Bree's parents#Father|Bree's dad]], Daniel, Jonas and Sarah were able to [[Opening the Box|find]] Gilman's name in a box left for them at the [[Site of the camp play|site]] of the camp play.

When Daniel tried to find him at the [[Wyman Foundation]] in San Diego, the receptionist simply said that there was no Dr. Gilman there. When the gang did further research and went to his [[La Jolla Health and Tennis Club|health club]], they met his former mistress who revealed that Gilman had been killed December 31, 2006, in a car accident on his way to pick up his son, [[Spencer]].

On the day of his death, Gilman was planning to meet with Bree's dad (Drew Avery); Avery also [[The Unthinkable Happened|died that day]]. It is speculated that both Gilman and Avery were killed because they were going to inject Bree with a serum in an attempt to make her "Trait Negative," and therefore undesirable to the Order.

The mistress went on to say that she and Gilman were together for ten years until the day he died, and that although he was married, the marriage was horrible.

She calls him a [[four-letter words|wanker]] for not being able to swim, as well as a "fragile geezer." There was a [[Wanker?!?|great deal of tension]] between the two afterwards.

Purple Monkey is widely available at Target stores (or at least was at one time). The official name for this stuffed animal is "Pappa Geppetto Monkey Puppet." Purple monkey puppets have also appeared in videos by [[LonesomeOctober]], [[TWJaniak]], and [[Paulmark18]].

After Bree's death, P. Monkey became the longest serving character.

==Connection to Lucy==
[[Lucy]] is a character later introduced in the series who is also somebody who helps Bree. Towards the beginning of the series, P. Monkey plays a very frequent role and is Bree's helper. However, in the later episodes as the ceremony approaches, P. Monkey appears less and less and Lucy is now called the helper. Bree makes the point of asking Lucy if it is okay for her to have stuffed animal friends (ex: P. Monkey). Lucy rephrases Bree's words by referring to them as "imaginary friends", and says they are a positive thing for people to have because they can talk to them when there is no one else around.

==Fate of Purple Monkey==
After the death of Bree's father, Purple Monkey appeared no longer able to help Bree. Daniel used Purple Monkey to try to cheer Bree up in [[Purple Monkey Returns]], but Bree would have none of it. In [[Training Hard]], Purple Monkey made an appearance, and Bree admitted that she had not had much time to hang out with Purple Monkey. She went on to say, however, that she thought she was getting too old to be playing with stuffed toys.

After 77 days, Purple Monkey is once again seen in [[Entertaining Myself]]. [[Sarah]] is shown playing with him and kissing him, pretending that he is Daniel. It should be noted, however, that she doesn't even bother to ask him his name, referring to him simply as "this stuffed monkey."

As yet, the unconfirmed detail that the "[[cassie]]" of cassieiswatching was merely an artifact of late-introduced character [[Frank]]'s schizophrenia appears to be the strongest candidate for the series' solution.

Much later in the official storyline, it has been implied that cassieiswatching's videos are indeed made by [[Bree]]'s friend [[Cassie]], but rather than a supernatural origin, they are an elaborate prank pulled by a mischievous girl. This move for closure however brings up questions of its own.

In the Revelation 2 video there can clearly be seen the hands of a man fixing a lure. This bears the question that if these videos were done by a young girl, where did these hands come from? It could be some kind of stock footage or Cassie may have had someone working with her. One interesting thing is that the lure being fixed is an aphid. This could be a random foreboding of things to come or it could indicate foreknowledge of that which is shortly to occur.

The Puppetmaster, or creator, of Cassieiswatching has never been revealed. Suspicions have been aired regarding [[Glenn Rubenstein]], creator of [[OpAphid]]; [[The Creators]] of lg15 themselves; [[Grant Steinfeld]], who was an early part of the LG15 creative team; and [[Alli Danziger]], the actress who plays [[Nikki Bower]]. However, all of these persons have either explicitly or implicitly denied any connection to Cassieiswatching, and no one has come forward to claim responsibility for the series.

==Origin ==
[[Cassieiswatching]] posted her first video on September 12th, 2006. The creation of cassieiswatching appears to be inspired by two events:

(1) The [[lonelygirl15]] video [[Swimming!]] dated August 29th, 2006 contains three scenes in which the characters refer to a girl named Cassie. In the video, [[Bree]] asks [[Daniel]] about the fate of a girl she knew from high school. Daniel says he doesn't remember this girl. Bree unsuccessfully tries to spark his memory, and then says she used to walk the track with her and that other kids were mean to [[Cassie]]. The last scene contained a somber tone that contrasts with the rest of the video, which was lighthearted and intimate.

(2) The unveiling of [[lonelygirl15]] as an interactive multimedia production [http://lonelygirl15.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=36] and not a real video blog on September 7, 2006. The YouTube page for the first cassieiswatching video, [[This Is My Story Now]], contains the tags "[[bree]]" "tells" "lies" in reference to the news that lonelygirl15 is not real. The video ends with a voice saying "come and get it," commonly interpreted as an invitation to lonelygirl15 viewers to participate in an [[ARG]] (Alternate Reality Game).

The game has leveraged the use of multimedia and interactive content to generate clues for the participants. Clues have been discovered in two videos, an altered [[Bible]] page, a voicemail message and several puzzles using morse code and anagrams.

A New York Times blogger, Virginia Heffernan, who had been extensively covering the story of lonelygirl15, reported on cassieiswatching's first video before it was released in [http://screens.blogs.nytimes.com/2006/09/12/lonely-girl-and-friends-just-wanted-movie-deal/ this entry], describing it as "[a] renegade lonelygirl-spinoff, which has some attenuated ties to the original". When asked about it through e-mail, Ms. Heffernan said:

[[Bree]] is perceived as an imaginative but socially immature girl, and [[Daniel]] is a practical and introverted guy. The dialog between them suggests a mystery about [[Cassie]]. Daniel, an intelligent and observant individual, should be able to remember a classmate (especially since they live in a small town). Daniel could be lying, which would alter the interpretation of the mystery, but there is no reason to believe he is withholding information from Bree. This has caused two lines of speculation: (1) Cassie disappeared due to foul play, possibly related to a cult (as many victims of cults are loners seeking acceptance from others), or (2) Bree has a split personality and Cassie is the other half.

In the '''[[My Helper]]''' video, [[Bree]] says the following:

This video may have impacted the cassieiswatching game development. The game initially left open the possibility that [[Cassie]] was a victim of a sacrifice related to [[Bree]]'s occult religion, but this video has all but eliminated that theory as plausible.

The '''[[Bree Phone Home]]''' reference may have been [[the Creators]]' way of giving [[LG15]] viewers closure on who or what cassieiswatching was. Bree explains that while they were friends, [[Cassie]] was prone to doing pranks like prank-calling strangers and whispering creepy things like "I'm watching!"(one of cassieiswatching's trademark phrases). The two of them got in trouble for the prank calls when some of the angry victims of the pranks called [[Bree]]'s house using caller ID. Bree ended up taking the blame when when her furious mom confronted her about them. After that, Bree stopped really talking to Cassie. It is worth noting that in this version of Cassie, she is described as girl who liked to pull creepy pranks. Coupled with the mention of her use of cassieiswatching's catchphrase, it's not a stretch to suppose that the official explanation for cassieiswatching is that it is another creepy prank from Bree's old friend Cassie.

The behavior of cassieiswatching could be described as an anonymous informant. She uses direct and indirect methods of conveying information to the participants. The information is oriented to the history of [[Cassie]] and the fate of [[Bree]].

===Is cassieiswatching alive or dead?===

Speculation that cassieiswatching is dead originates from the disembodied filming style of her two videos and the line "But [[Cassie]] does not rest in peace" from clue #7.

===Differences between the storylines===

Adaptation of the [[Cassie]] character by cassieiswatching is increasingly divergent from the Cassie character referenced in the lonelygirl15 videos:

- cassieiswatching appears to be stalking the Bree character, however neither [[Bree]] nor [[Daniel]] have been aware of the whereabounts of Cassie for a year or longer.

- cassieiswatching has suggested being a victim of a cult ritual in clue #7, however in the [[Lonelygirl15]] "My Helper" video (posted after clue #7 was discovered) [[Bree]] says [[Cassie]] was a friend until "the whole religion thing kinda freaked her out".

There are many that believe that [[Frank]] is not really dead. It is believed by many that [[Frank]] faked the posts from Kaye as he was seeking to get away from the madness that had found him on his blog in the form of many abusive posters. The question is if [[Frank]] is indeed alive, will he and/or cassieiswatching ever return.

==Gamejacking ==
Some of the cassieiswatching clues have been interpreted to show evidence of an Alternate Reality Game phenomenon known as "[[gamejacking]]". The change in the first video's description to "TOO SLOW. I DON'T PLAY CARDS. YOU ALL FAILED. I HATE YOU." and cassieiswatching's YouTube profile to "i don't play cards" has been interpreted as a denunciation of the {{wikipedia|tarot}} card clue.
