Learning Egyptian is the seventieth video in the Lonelygirl15 video series. Gemma offers some explanations about Bree's religion.

Transcript
Gemma: I wish I could come over and help you, but it's not like it's a tube ride away. I was worried about you, and so was everyone else. I thought I'd see what I could do from here. For starters, I can tell you everything I know. It is not Thelema as many have suspected. It's more like a secret society. It's not a religion after all. It's called "The Order". Like, there were these, uh, compulsory classes that were held in the meeting house, um, where the adults used to learn ancient Egyptian languages. Anyway, I remember flipping through my dad's Egyptian study books...and...I was always captivated by the pictures of the gold and the jewels. I guess I was kind of a typical girl that way. Okay, so I think I need to do a little bit more research. I'll get back to you soon. Stay safe.

Notes
*This is the first time Thelema is mentioned in any of the videos, and it is mentioned in order to deny it being Bree's religion.

Bree's mother

2006-11-08T20:52:09Z

189.161.81.234:

Bree reports that her mother often sides with her in clashes with Bree's father -- however, this was not the case in the matter of Paul and Andrea's party, which Bree wanted to attend with Daniel. Bree's mother seemed to be Bree's primary coach in preparing for Bree's ritual until the introduction of the character Lucy, in episode 42, My Helper.

Bree divulges more information as to the identity and character of her mother in episode 43, How My Parents Met. In this episode, Bree explains how at the age of 21, her mother lived and studied in Edinburgh, Scotland. Bree's mother, at that time was working on a dissertation on Johann Weyer, a dutch physician, occultist, and demonologist. This bit of information alludes to Bree's religion, which is host to a plethora of speculation, and is based arround Aleister Crowley, and Thelema.

It can be inferred from Bree's discussion of her mother in, How My Parents Met, that Bree's mother has historically taken the offensive when arguing or debating with Bree's Father. When Bree's mother and father had yet to meet, Bree's mother overheard her father debating with a friend of his that the theme of the play, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead is Determinism, and Bree's mother felt compelled to walk over to a man whom she had never met, and tell him he was completely wrong- that the theme of the play was Free Will. Free Will is a basic concept of many Thelemic sects.

In one of Gemma's videos, she describes how her mother meant Bree's mother. In this story too, Bree's mom was debating and impressed Gemma's with her confidence.

From what we know of her, it seems clear that Bree's mom is no meek housewife.

Gemma's flat

Gemmers19 posts her videos from her apartment in London. The background on her wall is decorated as a cityscape. It's a picture of New York City, you can tell because of the Flatiron Building in the middle of the picture. The full-wall cityscape is a strong contrast to the lone picture of a house in Bree's bedroom. Furthermore, a house plant is clearly visible next to the wall.

Some fans have compared this effect to that of the wall of a Subway sandwich shop. The image also prompted some fans to speculate that the videos were shot in front of a blue screen or a green screen with a New York background. This is obviously not the case as Gemma wears blue clothing in her videos, has greenish eyes and has a green house plant in her apartment. If this were edited with a chroma key, these items would disappear. Not to mention that shooting with green screens is very expensive and complicated to get to look good, and the lonelygirl project is low budget.

Gemmers19 is a YouTube and Revver user who posted a video response to "Daniel, Be Careful" Gemma says that she knew Bree in England, when Bree was good friends with her dog. Bree mentions being friends with the dog in England in Mysteries of My Past... REVEALED!

Gemma also suggests that her parents are members of Bree's religion and this forced her to move to London. The editing style in Gemma's videos is similar to the editing in the lonelygirl15 videos.

The actress that plays Gemma has been identified as an aspiring actress named Jackie, who appears to be a friend of Jessica Lee Rose in real life. This connection has prompted many to speculate that Gemma is an official character. Bree, in her video "Hi Gemma!" responded to Gemma's video. This would appear to confirm that The Creators are incorporating her into the lonelygirl15 universe as an official character.

Gemma's references to David Hume and Bree's mother's reaction to the discussions at the lecture she was attending may be significant.
