Bree's Scar

I was surprised to see that there hasn't already been rampant discussion about this (if there has and I missed it, mods, feel free to delete or merge this).

On Mixed Media last night (awesome show, by the way), Jessica Lee Rose let it slip that for the "Swimming" video, the Creators made it a point to get her a swimsuit that would leave room on her back to show a scar.

I remember some discussion about that scar back when the video came out; was any conclusion reached about what it symbolizes and/or what its significance is?

Screenshots are welcome.

I think everyone decided it was a watcher symbol (scar)

as far as it's significance of how it got there. *shrug*

You know what this proves, don't you? OpAphid was canon all along.

Well, you know that OpAphid was supposed to be a game-jack of CiW. I think that we may be seeing some interesting things coming.

TOSG, thanks for bringing this up. So do you think that Bree is a watcher, or that the symbol was placed on her as a child?

well she clearly has no idea what it is especially after she herself said it was just a bithmark in "bree chat"... so I vote it was put on her as a child

I just discussed the possiblity that OpAphid was Cannon all along with my friend Lpants and here's what she said

Lpants: Oh OpAphid didnt create the watchers symbol
the creators did it was introduced by Nikki Bower
the creators tossed it to her to get fans interested

Me: ah yes good point

Lpants: Im glad you have aspergers and develop intense obsessions, like me

Probably the latter. This would seem to bolster (although certainly not prove) the contention that Bree was the product of some form of genetic engineering or other manipulation.

I was reading 'The Handmaid's Tale' by Magaret Atwood last night, and there was a passage that made me think of Bree and the mark on her back -

"I cannot avoid seeing now, the small tattoo on my ankle. Four digits and an eye, a passport in reverse. It's supposed to guarantee that I will never be able to fade, finally, into another landscape. I am too important, too scarce for that. I am a national resource"

Anyway, as Bree said that it's "girls who show potential at birth" that get taken from their parents, perhaps they are tatooed to make sure that the order will always be able to identify them. Even if she did manage to escape the order's grasp, they would always be able to identify what she is because of the mark on her back.
