Why do people feel a need to announce their departure? So people will beg them not to leave? Or is it like quiting smoking, telling everyone you are quiting hoping it will reinforce your own decision?

well i think one of the many reasons could be so we know they left not that they just are disappearing for awhile or they've been killed etc ect
and so people who dont have any other way to contact them can say bye
