Has anyone else noticed that this order is predominately a female organization? Bree's mom is high in the order supposedly, as is Lucy, and Gemma was, and they need females for this "ceremony"...

just some more mindless ramblings...

Yes. ^_^

Very interesting...but most pagan faiths also place women in a higher role than men.

There have been several theories floated in the past -- back when we actually had information about Bree's religion to research (damn, I miss those days) -- that the Order is a matriarchal organization. In fact, some of my own theories way back when suggested that the ceremony involved sacrificing a male victim. You might want to read some threads from back in the fall -- that's when we were doing a lot of speculating about the religion.

Because he was told to. By her mom most likely...whom was told by the order.

Go read some older threads. Seriously. There has been lots of interesting discussion of these issues. And if you'd like to add to the discussion, just post a comment at the end of one of those threads. That will bump up the thread so everyone will be able to read the whole discussion along with your new thoughts. (Sorry if that's a 'duh' idea -- I have a tendency to get didactic.)

Could be, in the real world though i don't know too many men that will do something just because their wives told them to. Also, in the video of the fake ceremony, most of the deacons looked to be male...

But the fake ceremony was specifically designed to mislead Daniel. So it would be extremely odd if the Order was willing to show anything that would give clues about the real ceremony.

I mean, he would do what his wife told him if he was also in the Order, which he was, and Bree's mom was in a position above him--which she was.

The deacons seem more like goons to me than people of actual importance within the Order. OpAphid is female, and Lucy has always had more significance in all of this than any single Deacon.

they could be clues on the real ceremony, or it could of been shown to mislead us...

In egyptian times, which this order supposedly follows, women did have a higher place, that is true, they were more revered than the men, it has to do with their fertility and nature as givers of life I do believe.

Here are some interesting threads discussing possibilities for Bree's religion:

Argentium Astrum

Several discussions of the Illuminati, including this one, this one and this one (warning: the last thread gets pretty convoluted)

Kabbalah and the Illuminati (also this one on Kabbalah and the Tree of Life)

Egyptian religions, including the Eye of Horus (note: this is one of my theories), Sopdet (also discusses Thelema), and the Order of Denderah

Various discussions of Thelema, including this one (involving sacrifice -- again, this is my own theory), this one, this one (also links to LGPedia), this one , and this one

Water as a purifier

Discussion of free will

Also check out the LGPedia page on Bree's religion.

Heh, what real world do you live in?

And actually the female worship aspect does link well to Egypt. Egypt has come up on several occasions. Enochian I believe came from Egyptian language. I also remember that Jonas gave Bree geographic magazines about Egypt (which was weird but okay lol). I am also reminded of the Egyptian worship of cats. Felines held a high role in Ancient Egyptian society because they were linked to women. I believe that water, too, was linked to women. Which is important because water has been brought up as a consistent theme in the series. There has been a great deal of discussion about the importance of water in the story, and I think that may be related to the female superiority of the Order.
