What if all of this IS the ceremony?

If they're breeding/building a new leader - they wouldn't want someone who blindly follows others. They'd want someone with a strong will, someone who's been systematically broken down, lost everyone important to them, until they've succumbed.

yes?

(and perhaps this avenue has been explored already - I'm a bit late to the game here)

Well that's confusing! I thought the ceremony was just something in her religion. Some thing normal. I mean, who says Bree is ever going to be "leader"?

I think sukey has a valid point. What if all of this that she's going through is the ceremony, like a test? Maybe they're trying to see how strong she is and, like sukey said, if she is strong willed enough not to be easily influenced by those around her.

I like it. I think it works. :smt038

This could be a test, if not the actual ceremony. That would be a great way to explain why they haven't kidnapped her when they've had the chance. And, since Daniel encouraged her not to do the ceremony in the first place, that could go along with the theory of Daniel being in the Order. It would also explain why her parents let her off so easily when she said she didn't want to do it. In my opinion this could totally work.

This is a really interesting thought. I don't really think it is the ceremony itself, but I think it's totally possible that this is a test.Hmm...

i don't think anyone can argue that the ceremony is "something normal"

To me it seems like it would be something "special" It would be weird if they were chasing her around, kidnapping, and murdering if it was something normal. And isn't she supposed to be like a "chosen one" That doesn't really indicate that this happens a lot. It wouldn't make sense for there to be a lot of "chosen ones"
