wow
So when did Natzi jokes make their way into this thread?
Any how... I am glad that even with a couple people taking things personally we all managed to have this conversation with a realatively small amount of flamage... I think it goes to show that the members have the ability to "Self Moderate" as Lilly put it... And I think it's a good step in the right direction... My only suggestion...
Let's not drag the opinions of this thread out into the rest of the forum and beat eachother over the head with them now... we have a place to talk about this here so lets leave it in here...

It's not a Nazi joke, it's a gold star joke. I thought that was pretty clear. I was wondering when someone would get uppity about it.

Which shows that you understood, before posting it, that a problem would arise. You know the history full well and understand that this was a sign that the wearer could be. at first, harrassed or arrested without cause and later stuck into ghettos and later killed simply for being born into a certain race. Gee, I don't know why people would be touchy about that.

Me neither. You'd think that sixty years later people wouldn't get sensitive to the point of just looking ridiculously and irrationally PC about it.

Sensitive to whom? To someone who resorts to using such emotionally tinged phrases as "Nazi jokes" to incorrectly portray what I posted, in hopes that you'd curry favor with everyone else when you clumsily backpedaled out of the discussion? Sure, anytime.

While this post appears to be directed to AP I understand that he is not up for debate. Therefore this information is here to make clear to other board members that we in no way support these actions.
As of a few months ago a certain zealot of a celebrity said the Jews caused all the wars of the world. Anti-Semitism is still very much alive and kicking all over the world. It isn't the Nazis in particular (although the German neo-nazi movement is gaining in numbers and strength which, naturally given how well that went the last time, has me a bit freaked out). The point here is that this is a symptom of a greater problem.
It wasn't funny when Kramer freaked out and rattled on about lynchings and it isn't funny when you use the yellow badge as a way to try, very much on purpose, to rattle people. This isn't what this board is here for and you had no good natured intentions when you posted that.
Infact, when you lookup anti-semitism in the wiki...oh what's that? The yellow badge.

Nice passive-aggression! I commend you, why, it almost didn't seem awkward at all!
So, essentially, your solution to curing anti-Semitism is to censor non-anti-Semites for posts that aren't anti-Semitic but that use some of its imagery, regardless of whether the imagery's use itself was anti-Semitic or not. Makes perfect sense.

What happens to some of you "nice" people in the real world? Do you just cry all day? I don't get it.
