Lonelygirl15 and Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I'm sure that many of you have seen the connections but I've decided to start a thread on it. Consider that both shows feature the following:
* Young teenage girl hunted down by and Order and a blonde woman (LG: Bree, the Order, Lucy; Buffy: Dawn, the knights, Glory)
* Two main friends (LG: Daniel and Jonas; Buffy: Xander and Willow)
* Brunette who betrays the heroine (LG: Gemma; Buffy: Faith)
* Watchers (LG: Watchers; Buffy: Giles and the Watchers Council)
* Chosen Ones: Bree; Buffy
I can't think of any other similarities right now, but one major difference is that while Buffy's real parents divorced, Bree has never even met her biological parents. Does anyone else have thoughts on this?

Yes! as soon as I saw the title "a watcher" i immediately thought of Giles. What a handsome Librarian.
Joss is coming out with a Buffy The Vampire Slayer comic book later this year. He says it's basically going to be like season eight, and said in an interview that it is a response to Dawn's question in the series finale: "so what are we gonna do now?"
I forget where it takes place, since sunnydale imploded. But I'm a comic book nerd, and it will be a very happy day for me when it comes out.

I think it may just be a common coincidence. I mean, you could find a lot of movies that fit this description too. Its just the fact that the creators made an initial plot that happens to have common basics that other stories have.
