Tigger character accused of hitting child at Walt Disney World

ORLANDO, Fla. — A Walt Disney World employee dressed as the character "Tigger" was accused of hitting a child while posing for a photo, a spokeswoman for the theme park said Saturday.

Park officials temporarily suspended Michael J. Fedelem while they investigate the accusations, Disney spokeswoman Zoraya Suarez said.

"Naturally, physical altercations between cast members and guests are not tolerated," Suarez said.

Jerry Monaco of New Hampshire videotapped his son, Jerry Jr., posing with the costumed character at Disney-MGM Studios on Friday and recorded the confrontation, according to a statement from the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

The father said Fedelem intentionally hit his son "on or about the head," said sheriff's spokesman Carlos M. Padilla. "The tape only shows a fraction of what happened. Now it's up to us to find out what led up to that."

A message left by The Associated Press for Monaco was not immediately returned. A telephone listing for Fedelem could not be located.

In 2004 a Walt Disney World employee dressed as Tigger was accused of touching the breast of a 13-year-old girl while she posed with him for a photo. A jury found the man not guilty.

I saw that on the news this morning, lmao! I saw the footage and to me it seemed like the kid was doing something. Tigger didn't just walk by and hit the dude. He was posing, the kid had his hand behind Tigger's back and a few seconds later is when it happened. It didnt' even look like he meant to punch the kid, but was turning to knock his hand down. To me it looked like the kid was doing something to provoke it.

I think he was grabbing tigger's ass to see if it really is made out of springs.

Looked like Tigger was losing his balance to me, and the kid was in the wrong place at the wrong time... Love how the news station cut the beginning of the clip when they showed it the subsequent times...

That kid just looks guilty. And his dad...man, even if it weren't my fault my mom would STILL blame me and ask me what I did to provoke it...

I hear ya there! I'd not only have to deal with having been clocked by Tigger, I'd have to deal with getting clocked again once I got home

Watch the kid's face right before it happens- he has a guilty smirk on his face. Then Tigger reacts very quickly as if something happened to him behind his back (pinched or something?) It doesn't make sense for him to do it out of the blue, for no reason- he had to be provoked.

I agree...and I can't wait to see THAT on the news.

Pretty sure the kid was messing with Tigger or his suit. By reflex, Tigger locked his arm to stop the kid, and either accidently punched him in the process, or just lost his balance.
