Daniel told Bree not to do the ceremony.
He foiled the orders plans.
He's broken into several places, including the warehouse and lucy's apartment.
He gave up his whole life for Bree.
His parents were never too concerned about where he was.
Daniel can see Tachyon's videos and has been watching the drops.

There are other things that can be added to this list, but what I am suggesting is the possibility that Bree wasn't the only one 'chosen'. Have we ever asked the question of if Daniel's place with Bree wasn't just by chance?

What if his parents are not on his side? (They didn't know about the camera's in his house..or didn't tell him..)

Daniel could be working with Tachyon. We don't know how long he's been in contact with her, but we know for certain that he has. He has good breaking and entering skills---was he trained for this?

Or was he, at the least, just simply chosen to stand by Bree, to protect her, and to be her friend? Maybe Daniel is more involved than we think...true, maybe he doesn't know much about her religion, but maybe that was just an act to get out to the world what Bree's religion is all about...another sceme to get to the Order.

It's a possibility. Remember how Bree said that Daniel was her only friend at school? She didn't haven any friends until he randomly walked over to her and asked her to sit with his friends.

It seems that all of your points do add to the possibility that Daniel is Bree's chosen protector. Her knight, if you will. If I had all day to postulate on this theory, I'd add in more to this. Hopefully the conversation won't goo too far so I can't join in in a couple days.

Curious, but a bit too improbable. I think Daniel was the factor the Order wasn't expecting. I wouldnt' be surprised if they wanted to keep Bree alienated, maybe even to the point that they bribed her classmates to mock her. Then her parents graciously offered to homeschool her and she jumped at the chance. Somehow Daniel resisted the mob mentality and reached out to Bree, which the Order hadnt suspected, so they tried to induct him [getting him to go to the camp, etc]

no i dont think they told them to be mean to her, bree is in a religion she is kind of embarresed about seen as she doesnt mention it at all... then she will not get close to any1 and not talk to any1 incase they got to close and asked questions, so they knew she wouldnt try to make frends... and maybe they started the rumour about her sleeping with her teacher
and then sent in daniel to whisk her of her feet

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to say. The Order is creating High School Drama...haha, that sounds so ridiculous, but if its true, there better be a good reason that the Order wants Bree.

its sounds like a possible theory and it has been discussed in several places that if brees parents were so strict why would they ever allow a boy in her bedroom, much less with the door shut....that would explain that one

it can be a theory but...i dont think that he really needs to be hired to talk to someone without friends at lunch time, i mean, i've already done that, and the person was really sweet, and we're great friends (now she has more friends than just me) and i wasnt hired to anything and it also depends of the ppl, i'm able to give my life to save someone i care about, and daniel cares about bree....

I think its a bit much to suspect the Order of stirring up high school drama. Bree's an attractive, intelligent girl who seems, because of her sheltered life and offbeat religious affiliation, to be a bit childlike emotionally (at least at the beginning, when she contemplated kissing and created "Proving Science Wrong") and an outcast among most teenagers. This might have been the Order's goal, but I don't think they'd have had to bribe students to make it happen.

My idea is that Daniel probably befriended Bree at school simply because she was smart and attractive, and he developed a crush on her. Its hardly farfetched. But perhaps once they were already friends posting videos together on YouTube, Daniel was approached by someone -- Tachyon, Bree's dad, etc. - with information about the Order's role in Bree's life and a request to protect her in the future, as the ceremony was becoming a prominent feature in Bree's life. Because of this, he probably stuck by her even when they fought over her refusal to reveal more information about her religion, her obedience when her parents were overly protective, her general teen-girl moodiness and occasional poor treatment of Daniel, her ambivalence and hesitation regarding a romantic or physical relationship with him....

Wow interesting thoughts here and this made me think back to the vid when Daniel was asked by Bree's Dad to film the summer camp play again. I do think he a genuine friend without really an agenda, but what if her dad asked him to do more than just film? I know there was a whole deal about him being banned from the house and such but this may have been a set up thing by her father. Which may be validated in a way by Bree's Dad and Mom asking her to stay with Daniel in the letter left in P. Monkey. Definitely a protector role for sure. This is cool stuff.

I think that Daniel could actually be Brother/Sebastian. You know, Tachyon's partner. Depending on the time frame, Gemma could have tried to kill him, and then he was assigned to watch over and make friends with Bree.

I just find it REALLY odd that both Daniel AND Brother decribed themselves at the SAME TIME that they were missing out JC classes and telling people they were out camping.

I agree. I don't think Daniel is acting on anyone else's orders except... those of his heart . He seems like the proverbial wrench in the gears--or as they say on Scooby-Doo, "And we would've done it do, if it weren't for those meddling kids!". If it wasn't for her budding relationship with Daniel, Bree would've just gone along with the ceremony. If he wasn't there to look after her, she would've had nowhere to turn to once they took her parents. Again, this last setup/abduction attempt with her father was foiled by Daniel (along with Jonas). I don't think the Order expected that her one friend would be this... tenacious in sticking by her and protecting her.

I'm a big fan of the Thelemic coming of age themes that the LG15 saga is playing out, partly because I find it awfully clever. The Creators are much more clever than we give them credit for I think.

Ok, I'm no expert on this (so everything here is by way of Wikipedia), but according to Crowley, the Law of Thelema can be summed up as :
* "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law"[24]
* "Love is the law, love under will"[25]
* "There is no Law beyond Do what thou wilt"[26]
Which is a mandate to discover and manifest one's True Will, which he described as one's inner divine nature, spiritual destiny, or proper course in life.

So anyway, from what it appears, the Order/her parents/all that is powerful in Bree's life have controlled all aspects of it up until a couple months ago. She was confined by her homeschool seclusion, her parents' strictness, her religion--which seemed like it was one of those all encompassing ones that have camps and communes, etc. Despite being an obviously intelligent girl, she never acted/made big decisions as expressions of her own free will.

This is evident in the earlier videos, which nearly all take place in a box (i.e. her room), and all her decisions are her parents' decisions for her, despite her own self wanting something else.

The catalyst to her changes is Daniel. Due to pulling power of their brief relationship (i.e. Love), Bree begins to challenge her parents/religions' impositions on her free will, declaring at one point: "If I want to do something and my parents say no, I'm going to do it anyway" (paraphrased)

After choosing this though, Bree (as a girl) has to deal with the consequences of the expressions of her will, as well as the continual challenges to her expression of it.


I think Daniel's role isn't so much mandated by someone In-Series (i.e. Tachyon's organization, Bree's dad, etc) as out-of-Breeniverse symbolic of themes presented in the story as a work of fiction. He represents the power of love as a draw/impetus for Bree to begin/continue expressing her will.

On another thematic note, he is an obvious foil to Bree. Many people have noted that only when you put Daniel and Bree together do you get a fully-actuated person (personally, I think they make pretty actuated people when they stand alone). In this vein, Jonas (outside of all the usual plot conspiracy stuff) is a mirror charactor to Bree. You know, the literary device where they have a more minor charactor's situation/traits/etc mirror that of a main charactor (a la Dream of the Red Chamber) to accentuate plot points or add lit depth.

Definately what I was thinking. Daniel could hold more of a role than we see him as. And as for him choosing not to go with Jonas at first, it could be he was just going home to check things out...remember when he spoke to the camera and said "YOU HAVE NOTHING"....it was like he knew who he was talking to...and it was as if he was saying he had something to hide.
