The Telephone Call Metaphor...

and how it relates to the plot:
The (not so) thinly veiled metaphor the creators sent regarding the second CiW video is highly encouraging for the resumption of a solid plotline. They are taking control and establishing narrative authority!
Combined with the addition of a creative team writer to the ARG folks, I think they are on track to getting this thing to a MUCH better state of affairs.
I think it is essential that if you invoke the status of canon to the ARG, it MUST be then primarily controlled by the creative team. To not do this will only invoke more confusion and the plot will degrade to a greater extent.
I think this is a wonderful turn of events and I applaud this move!
