A few vids ago Gemma explained what A.P.H.I.D. stood for using (I believe) sign language. I'm not familiar with sign language, but having it introduced so obviously in the story makes me wonder if it's been there before. Has anyone who does know sign language gone back and seen if there are any more signs in the Gemma, or even the Bree/Daniel vids?

I am fluent in American Sign Language...I've been watching closely as soon as someone starts moving their hands (just in case there is a secret message! ) But so far, I've not seen anything that could be considered an official sign in THAT language (with the exception of Bree spelling Daniel's name)...there are other forms of signed languages, and some in other countries, too.

Anyone else know any other signed languages??

anyone see a connection between Gemma's little game of man, squirrel, nut and the recent talk about communicationg via sign language?

I know Signalong, no clues there either, but then signalong isn't as sophisticated as ASL anyhow.

I never thought that Gemma was ever going to tell us anything with her hands, but the concept of it is so sneaky, that I wouldn't put it past The Creators.

However, it is also possible that Gemma is just someone who just moves their hands around when they talk. I know lots of people like that.

I thought she was English? A cursory search shows a Jackie Jandrell who graduated from Sussex Downs College. Her myspace lists her locale as UK. I read something else that said she was English but I can't find it now. Im so confused!

No you're right. Jackie is English. I was just making a joke. Italians are stereotyped to "talk with their hands." And there has been speculation whether Jackie is purposely making her English-ness seem fake because Gemma is lying in the storyline. So yeah... I was just kidding.

It seems Bree, Gemma, Jonas, and Tach are all familar with some sort of hand signs. The only referance I've seen is from the old boy scout handbook that Bree was reading from. Just from doing a little googling, it looks like the boy scouts use a combination of ASL and old Indian signs. So, unless we had the book for a referance I don't really see how we have a shot at interpreting them. They could also be completely made up the way a gang or secret society might make up their own secret hand shake. So, I kinda feel ..o well..about it. We might just have to wait for more clues in videos.
