Woman Fatally Crushed In Restaurant Drive-Through Identified
HEMET -- A woman who suffered fatal injuries when she was crushed between her van door and a wall in the drive-thru area of a fast-food restaurant was identified Monday as a 58-year-old San Jacinto resident.
Brenda Anderson was pronounced dead at Hemet Valley Medical Center at 8:38 p.m. Sunday, according to the county coroner's office.
Police were called to a Del Taco restaurant in the 1400 block of San Jacinto Avenue about 11:30 a.m. Saturday to investigate the accident, San Jacinto police Sgt. Ted Hoffman said.
Officers determined that the woman's vehicle had crashed into the restaurant wall after she leaned out to pick up her food or finish paying for her order and the van moved forward, Hoffman said.
The woman's head and chest were crushed between the van door and the wall, police said.
Bystanders tried unsuccessfully to move the van to free the woman, Hoffman said. Firefighters were eventually able to move the van and extricate her.
