i found something tht sounds like maybe its Brees REligion. It is called Ordo Templi Orientis. Aleister CRowley was a follower and it may give an explanation for her stuffed animals. THere are three triads called the hermit, the lover and the man of earth. Maybe each stuffed animal represents one. It says as well to explain ones religion you may drop plain hints, you take an oath to never tell though. the website fir` the religion is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ordo_Templi_Orientis chec it out

Since I didn't see her at NOTOCON, and the fact that there are a couple of other OTO members on here that said she's NOT in the OTO, your theory is debunked.

and the website for the ORDER (not the religion) is www.oto-usa.org.

PS, I wish we had the money to follow around wayward teens, we might be able to afford a better air conditioner in the temple.

oooh, maybe you know the answer to my abbey question. Someone (I think it was on the forum..I don't remember) was saying that only the Americans really take Crowley and Thelema seriously. He sounded pretty irate, so I didn't really take him seriously, but I was wondering if there's any truth in that. Is there any place where there are considerably more Thelemites than somewhere else...I mean, of the places there are known gropus of Thelemites? And I was also wondering if there had been any efforts to restore the abbey that is in Cefalu...I thought maybe that the two issues could be connected?

Or get Crowley's books all back in print.

Or open a profess-house by 2016.

Or have some local bodies that own real estate.

Or......

Not much truth in it, but I'd say in general it's english speaking countries (mostly the US, UK, and Australia) and Brazil (home of the sOTO, reputably many times larger than the OTO), although I've met Thelemites from everywhere.

As far as the Abbey, that's one with a lot of backstory, and no one knows the truth. The people of Cefalu still talk about Crowley in hushed whispers. Two brothers reportably own it, and they won't sell it because of the circumstances in which Crowley was expelled. Nowadays, the abbey is in such disrepair (it still stands, and still has the original murals and such on the walls) that there's not much that could be done if some enterprising Thelemite or Thelemic order were to purchase it.

Yeah, I saw pictures of it from not too long ago. It looks pretty bad...and there was a lot of vandalism...which sucks, but is not really suprising. I saw a couple pictures of that Boleskine house a while ago too..same type of "666" "EVIL" and "anarchy" vandalism. Lame, but I guess if no one takes action, it just keeps happening. (ie: Jim morrison's grave) So..the two brothers that own it now, they do not condone the circumstances surrounding Crowley's..uh, exit....or they do? And they've never stated what their intent is in regards to the property? I was just wondering becuase it seemed like a shame, what bad shape it was in. I thought, if nothing else, it would have been cool to have around just as a historical monument/ document. Are there pictures anywhere of what the murals used to look like..I tried finding some, but I just kept getting the same crappy ones that are more recent. Who did them anyway? Sorry, I don't mean to make you into the official spokesperson of all things Thelema, I'm just interested.

I'm sure few people condone the circumstances around Crowley's exit - not even the man himself. Basically, someone (Raoul Loveday) died, the government got involved, and Mussollini expelled Crowley, as well as anyone else involved in the occult and secret societies, from the country. The interesting thing is that he died of a liver infection he got from drinking the water there. I suppose mussolini thought crowley was a better scapegoat than his reservoir.

As far as people trying to buy it, many have, from filmmaker Kenneth Anger to Led Zepplin guitarist Jimmy Page (who did buy Boleskine, Crowley's house in Scotland). The impression I got as to why no one has yet is because a. it's not worth saving, b. the owners being extremely resistant to doing anything with the building (they won't even tear it down), and c. the ownership of the property is under dispute. I'm trying to find some more details to go along with what little of the condition of Cefalu I know, but they're mostly hearsay.

Here are recent pictures, from july. There aren't any original pictures, and if there were, the film quality would be worse than the pictures you see now. It was closed and painted over in 1923. Anger uncovered the murals in 1955 and used them for his film "Thelema Abbey". I don't think it's available on DVD, and it's not on YouTube. There are rumours going around about a collection of Anger's films being released on DVD soon, hopefully Thelema Abbey will be included.
