The Story Ideas in Proving Longitude Wrong

So I'm not exactly sure about this, but I have some ideas about Proving Longitude Wrong (and some questions).

"If you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you're going, and then you might run into things that aren't supposed to be there -- like Danielbeats." She was going on with her life, but she didn't follow longitude, she followed the wrong things (the wrong religious path: her parents, for example, sound fine), she didn't trust people who told her it was the wrong way and had them hanged. Three hours later she ran into trouble. Fake ceremoney. The business with Danielbeast and the fake ceremony was the island. Only two survived. The cult killed her for her emerald ring -- lots of ideas for what that could be. We don't know about the other survivor -- presumably, he or she lived.

Also, she says "Danielbeats", plural. Why plural? And, why longitude? More location ideas?

Guys, I don't buy into all this Cassie stuff. I think that she was a one-time narrative device. She shows us more about Bree's character and past. That's it. Done. Gemma is to add a demension, and to tell us some about the past and the "community". By the way, the cult and the community might not be exactly the same thing, or maybe not all of the community is bad.

I also agree that there will probably be some more drama to the plot, but that it won't get as dark as some people seem to think it will.

Sorry for this long post, its basically absolutely everything I think about the present situation. Thoughts?

Also: Proving Longitude Wrong, mostly, was refreshing and funny and just a great return to the good old times!

I think that Proving Longitude wrong had everything to do with Daniel and nothing to do it Bree. Also I think that she said it like Danielbeast's and not Danielbeasts So it is not necessarily plural.

Daniel Didn't know what he was getign into when he started following Bree. He didn't know where he was, so he got lost.

Like danielbeast'S WHAT??? It doesn't make sense like that.

Its plural because she was being funny. Gawd, you guys read too much into things.

Ok, I have the book Bree was reading, and here are my theories regarding the proving longitude wrong video:

I think an important part of the story is the relationship between Admiral Clowdisley and the unnamed seaman that calculated the correct longitude.

Basically because it was illegal for anybody but the navigator to calculate the longitude, the man was hanged, even though he eventually turned out to be right. The man had risked his life in telling the Admiral, but he felt it was so important and dangerous to carry on as they were, that he told them anyway. Although he died, the Admiral got what was coming to him when he was murdered for his ring.

One explanation for the video is that Clowdisley represents the Order of Denderah, and Daniel represents the unnamed seaman. Daniel risked his safety following Bree because he believed she was going down the wrong path. Although it might look like the cult is in control, they will eventually meet their fate and get what is coming to them (perhaps they are even protecting an idea/holding some knowledge, that will eventually get them into trouble because someone else wants it, just like the woman wanted Clowdisley's emerald ring.)

The seaman could also represent Bree. She knew after consulting with Daniel that the ceremony wasn't the right thing to do. Is she now risking her life as she knows it? (This would tie in with Gemma's latest video.)

I know there are plenty of holes in these theories but they were just things that popped into my head on the train home today and I thought I would share them :)

Ok, so, this video definitely was for a bit of fun. Everything that everybody has said makes sense to me! Lots of good ideas! Oh, there are too many... whatever will happen now? At least I don't know! And at least the creators can't go, "Oh they figured it out let's change it" as easily, because they're so many options.

Nikki Bower has some things to say about longitude.

what if the longitude video is emphasizing the map locations concept from the maps on lucy's computer.
also, what if those locations mark places that the ceremony could take place, depending on when all is ready for the ceremony to take place. astrologically, different places, at different times are appropriate. longitude and time. so if all is not ready in time for topanga, arizona is the next possibility, and so on, as time passes.

This is a great theory and something I definitely think we should pursue.

thanks
i think that the ceremony was supposed to take place today. (as mercury transits the sun.) maybe the az site is next up for the ceremony and could be when the next planetary transit is due. or some astrological event. could be that's where bree's parents were taken in the hopes of getting her there.
