Lordy this is a lot of reading! I'm slogging through, and glad, because it's interesting, but oy!

(Off topic, but: Taiya and TL, did you get my email from yesterday? It said it had been trying for 12 hours and not to resend, so I wasn't sure.)

I'm reading the stuff on Laozi, but I can't find any tie-in to loyalty in the reading. I'm sure he must have written about it, but don't seen anything in this article. Has anyone else found something more relevant?

Oh and Summer I did receive your email and have sent you one back.

I am not sure what that specific reading had to do with loyalty or self preservation.
While reading on the Laozi elsewhere it states that :
"Taoism's main precepts are " loyalty " and " filial piety ". In practice, it calls on its faithful to " respect heaven, honour ancestors, and be compassionate to man and all things under heaven ".

Something I found amusing about Laozi - there's argument about whether he was real or fictional. :)

This answer was posted by D. Kimble:

"...The most powerful word of all is the Ren, the true name. Did not Aset (Isis) gain her true power by learning the secret name of Ra? How is one to heal, or curse, or enlighten, or in any way influence a being whose Ren remains a mystery? That is why we address our Gods by titles, and not by their true names. Only a fool would allow an unworthy foreigner to gain the power to call upon the loyalty of their Gods. Let the foreigners follow their own deities, and be served by them. --Imhotep Apuat-Shemsu, The Sacred Land..."
Is this Mayati Jr. over here or what?
