Just plain cheap thrills

I am moving a couple of comments out of the Plot Discussion thread and into Concerns and complainst because they reflect my concerns and include my complaint more than anything else.
I"m really dissapointed with the direction this story has taken and the low class quality of it's content. I'm no prude but LG15 is turning into an adolescent soap about who is sleeping with who...it's cheap thrills at best. Amateurish and pornographic at its worst...so here goes:
Post 1
I am appalled by this last episode.
A mother seducing a young girls overaged friend in front of her.
I saw that movie once at a bachelor party. I left and went downstairs to watch the strippers. It was a little less offensive.
I've long said that I just can't quit this thing but you know what...it's getting close. I really think I'm now just hanging around to see how very terrible this thing becomes.
I was thinking about what the buzz would be when this thing folds but y'know what? I'm not sure anyone outside the circle gives a crap anymore.
What about it stat watchers? What's the latest on viewership?

Perfect.
If I may, I'd like to emulate your observation to say...
This might be LonelyGirl15.com and there may be videos here but this is NOT LonelyGirl 15!
And Milo...I know you are keeping it light and being kind as you always are. You are gracious to a fault and I respect your level headed opinions but I can not soften my stand on this episode.
Without a scintilla of sarcasm or intended wit I tell you that this episode offended me, insulted my intellligence and mocked my vested interest in the series.
I get the feeling I am in a minority here. I have no real idea who or what composes the population here. I don't speak for anyone but myself.
If this is what we can expect in the future than so be it but I just wont be able to watch it. That's not a grand resignation warning, it is just fact and I would miss it. I "miss it" a lot already to be honest with you.

if you don't like trolls, you have no soul.

I think there should have been a poll option entitled:
"I think the sexing up is gratuitous, but the show was ruined anyway when Bree lied to Daniel about doing the (oh so dreaded) ceremony."
To tell you the truth, I really didn't pay much attention to the contents of the script but I did like the troll animations. It did kinda remind me of the silly P. Monkey vids of yore, so perhaps that's why I liked it... The storyline is just absurd beyond all recognition (ABAR) anyway, so I really don't pay much attention to it anymore.
I DO find the sexing up of the series offensive on almost every level though and have expressed my views as to why there are doing this on several occasions: Sex sells. It's really not more complicated than that my friend. The LCD of LG15 and pretty much the rest of popular culture.
Kinda sad how this has turned out indeed...

The Creators get paid by youtube based on the number of views the episodes get (correct me if I'm wrong).
This kind of provocative, "sweeps week" crap draws the most viewers.
Hence, we get episode after episode of this.
It wouldn't be so bad if it were interspersed with actual compelling plot, but the balance has been tilted pretty far in the other direction lately.

When will you guys give it up? It's been over six months that you have been unhappy with the plot, and yet you are still going on about this and hanging around. Obsess much?
BTW, there have been many positive comments about the adults actually starting to act like adults.
The option I would choose isn't here. That option is (sung by Taig, of course):
LG15, it's all about you, it's always been about you, no matter what you do...
Move on. It's ridiculous.

I completely agree that
realistic sexuality has a place in any production involving these people. BUT, this is cheap sensationalism produced only because they can't write their way out of the absurd storyline.
It's easy to write (mindless) provocative material when you can't think of what the heck else to do...
BTW, I still liked the Trolls.

I think the sexy subplot is annoying at the moment because the real fallout behind certain actions hasn't happened yet. When we hear from Bree why she did what she did, and when we see a monologue from Daniel about his thing with Sarah, or a monologue from Sarah about Daniel, then I'll feel a lot more satisfied.
I hope the Creators aren't going for a kind of, 'Young people like casual sex, right? Let's weave that in!' mentality. I think most of us value a more realistic treatment of the matter. But I maintain that we haven't yet seen what's in store around the sex issue.

Uh...this is the concerns and complaints area is it not? The show has gotten worse and worse for quite a while, but this whole cheezy sex thing hasn't been going on
that long. I'm guessing people are still hanging around hoping it will get better..or perhaps just wanting to see how it all ends. I don't think it's "ridiculous" to let it be known that some (actually, I'd assume many) of us are disappointed in this kind of cheap pandering. Interesting use of the word "obsess" though, particularly considering the source.

Alright oldies, let me break down a few realities for you.
Teenagers talk about sex. A lot.
I know, take a moment to yourselves. Breath. In and out, one more time...
Now most sex talk is bullsnapple, but another reality is that teenagers and young adults also have been known to participate in sex.
Although the involvement of sex in LG15 seems forced and kind of overkill, I do not believe that this needs to be a site advertising teen morality and anti-premaritalblahdeblah. I feel that they're sudden attatchment to sex feels awkward because it was once a topic very taboo to the series itself. In the episode
Bree and I Hooked Up, the writers strangley made hooking up into a passionate hug. Not only after watching this video was I confused, annoyed and felt kind of like a harlot... I realised that should the topic of sex come up in LG15 that it be used in a realistic and purposeful way.
Now should Bree and Daniel had actually 'hooked up' that night, it would have been more so understandable than Bree and Jonas' first time trist. First off, Bree and Daniel were first loves (well, I think we can call it that) and it would have meant more to the viewers for her to lose her virginity to her bestfriend and confident if she were to lose it at all. Bree's loss of her virginity at that time of her life would have also been a good shot at charactization, embodying Bree's reckless and desperate grieving process. Bree losing her virginity when she is halfbrainwashed only makes the view pity both Jonas and Bree for their patheticness, and hardly endears or empathizes us to either character.
The use of sex with Sarah and Daniel is now just getting annoying. We understand, Sarah takes out a lot of emotions into sex, Sarah is a slut, etc, etc. So when we see videos that do not develop the plot, but only let us know that yes, indeed, Danielbeast is still getting some... it leaves the viewer with an illtaste in his or her mouth. Daniel's character also made a dramatic change, he became very comfortable with sex very quickly. Referring again to the "Bree and I Hooked Up" video, Daniel was very shy and excited about his "little" Bree experience. Now we are supposed to believe that Sarah literally made a man out of Daniel, whipping his virginity into sexual prowless in only three weeks? The skeptism of the viewer is well warrented.
My advice? Although the actors may be in their twenties and enjoying active sex lives (I'm assuming here), the characters are still supposed to be awkward young teenagers. Despite all they have been through, topics like sex and love should have their growing pains and should not seem as commonplace as they have been in recent episodes.

Still complaining about something that happened over six months ago.

Actually, I think that is the best post I have read on the subject to date. I think the basis in a reality vlog, has to be uhm, reality. I think you articulated clearly why these various pairings are just not realistic given previous characterizations.
Again, well said.

and Danielle thank you for your contribution, seriously. At first I thought you were going to make the old "grown-ups are dumb" argument but I was very much mistaken.
Your argument is sound and your opinion is well grounded.

Just a request to keep this disagreement to PMs, as I believe this particular topic shouldn't be put in an area where it could be locked.
I think that this is a topic that both viewers, creators and characters could care to take a gander and gawk at, hell even say a few words or two.
