My parents are really REALLY against it. But I feel that if I want to be more social I probably should.

We'll I can understand why your parents might not want you to, the cyber world can be a scary place. But if you can show that you wouldn't be giving out personal information, or maybe posting pictures of yourself...maybe they would reconsider? I dunno it's hard to say. Myspace is kinda over rated (I do have one, but use it to just chat with acouple of the cool kids here on lg15 forums and "stalk" the cast....mawhaha)

Humm thats quite awkward and its understandable why they would do that.

The most likely reson they wont let you is becuase they feer who you will meet and the lack of control they may have over who you are talking to and the possibility that they will be ablious of it feeling a loss of control.

Hmmm im thinking talking to them about how it works and set down some rules your are willing to go by to show your responsible enough to use it.

Such as setting it to private and friend invites require guesing a personal question.

Another idea is telling them only your school friends can be your friends to begin with

Another idea i wouldnt bee keen on as id lose too much control and will aways get interupted in the process is to allow them to have acces to your myspace so they know whats going on and who the people are.

There kind of awkward but if you start out showing you know how to deal with this propperly and sensibly they will feel they can trust you to do it. If they get confident enough you can satrt invite other people such as lg15 members

I myself dont use it but i have a default setup acount set to private to access arg acounts. Hope this help :D

I had a MySpace for a little while...until it was hacked into and my computer was loaded with tons of viruses and other nasty things, so I'm not a big fan of it.

Go with facebook, its much less of 13 year old girls pretending to be 25 and asking who has a crush on who.

Any social website (myspace, facebook, bebo) is safe as long as you don't give out personal info. So as long as you do that you should be fine. :)

yeah.......I read something in a paper once about how some poeple can look at your pictures and determine where you are. I don't see how that could work...........but I do see how the comments of others could.

the real risk is that people seem to easily forget that anything on your myspace is really completely public. for instance, there was that recent story about a guy who lost his job at walmart for posting something negative about walmart on his myspace.

people will stumble across your page, by mistake or intentionally. even if its private, if you have more than very few friends, you should treat it as public.

even jessica rose was discovered primarily through her myspace. even though it was private and didn't have any pictures of her. now, that's an extreme case, because hopefully no one has thousands of people looking for them on a regular basis.

Facebook is for dorks. I hate myspace sometimes..but I pretty much need it to live. I only use it for people I know in real life though (well, for the most part) and it's a good way to keep in contact without having to call everyone all the time. My friends are scattered all over the place and I'm not really good about calling. I'm glad I have myspace, it's been the catalyst for a few reunions and a lot of plans/ parties I would have missed out on otherwise...not to mention a shit ton of good gossip. And Milo is right, you have to make sure there's nothing on there you wouldn't want your parents, bosses, school, etc. to see, which in my case isn't really an issue since everyone knows I'm insane already.

Well you see, thats a good point too. And I guess alot of ppl have a different story to tell about how they were either VERY safe or VERY not so safe..........so I think I will wait for a while....maybe.

You could always do what I did and make a myspace just for LG15. I don't ever use my real name or location. I wanted to have something thats more personal, but still safe. You could consider it.
