Bree's religion isn't just a religion but has a secret society linked to it.
her parents are members and have been secretly grooming her for recruitment. but Bree doesn't know this yet. maybe Bree is some kind of "chosen one" or intended to be an instrument of the society (for whatever purpose) to fulfill some grand destiny/ prophecy. the mystery woman who drove Bree could be her society Patron/ liason/ mentor.
since Daniel attended "church" camp with Bree, he is obviously familiar with her religion. maybe even shares her beliefs, but not as strictly and is not as well versed as Bree. did he just go to camp to be with Bree, but doesn't believe? out of curiousity? surely he'd be curious about it and would research it on his own anyway, especially since he's concerned for Bree's involvement. he doesn't recognize "The Order of Denderah" so maybe that's either beyond his level of education or security clearance in the religion, or perhaps this has nothing to do with the religion itself and is more about the secret society. Bree doesn't realize the distinction between the religion and the secret society. could be this upcoming ceremony isn't for the religion, but for the society (or both). maybe Daniel used to believe but doesn't anymore. we don't know what his religion is.
if Daniel is familiar with Bree's religion, why is she so secretive with him about it, and why does Daniel often seem clueless?
I suspect that Daniel is not actively involved with the religion/ society, and is not in cahoots with the Parents, and is not a plant/mole/test. but he will seek to liberate/ rescue her. maybe he succeeds, as she realizes her parents have been lying and using her-- Daniel the hero. or maybe he joins her. or maybe he accepts her religious commitment when he understands it. or maybe she doesn't want to be rescued and leaves him to serve her religion/ society. whatever the scenario, maybe they remain friends, maybe they don't.
