If this has been posted somewhere else I apologize. This is on the other side of the country for me. Hopefully one of you guys will be able to go to this.

Hello and thank you for completing the Hymn of One Audition. Based on a
number of factors, we believe that you possess the necessary attributes
for membership. The next step in your journey towards singing the eternal
song is to attend a seminar for potential new members. Our next seminar
will be held this Thursday, May 31, 2007 between 12:00 and 2:00 pm. To
participate, please go to 14201 Huston St, Sherman Oaks, Ca, 91423 between
12:00 pm and 12:30 pm on Thursday, May 31. One of our brothers will be
awaiting your arrival near the tennis courts. He will be wearing a black
suit.

Dedication is essential to proving your worth to the Hymn of One, so the
first thirty-five people that arrive will receive invitations, and only
those with invitations may be considered for membership. Adherence to
guidelines is also an essential element of a Hymn of One member, so do not
show up before 12:00 pm or after 12:30. Finally, discretion with
information is required from all of our brothers and sisters. As such, we
ask that you not share this message, or speak with anyone at any time
about the seminar. Only chosen ones are worthy of the harmonious
understanding achieved through the Hymn of One. Thank you for your
interest in joining us, we look forward to meeting you.

Please RSVP to this email if you will be attending.

Most that can happen is you will never hear from me again.

Two things:

1. If you are going to post an actual reply, I recommend taking a screenshot.

2. This has gamejack written all over it.

EDIT to add: I was wrong about this being a gamejack attempt.

I didn't receive this, someone posted it in Daniel's chat.

But is it a game jack, or an actual seminar? That's a lot of people they're inviting to a public location.

Of course, they also said not to share it.

I'm not sure if this was meant to known or not.

Any hacker with access to submission logs could probably have sent that email.

Would anyone attempting to portray themselves as an actual religion sign off as " H of O?"

It boggles the mind. This is a lame attempt at a gamejack.

EDIT to add: I was really, really wrong about this. It just turned out to be poorly written instead.

I agree Apo, but weirder things have happened. Two things make me wary of right out calling it a gamejack.

1. If there are any real ARG players in the recipient list, I'm sure they would've spotted the spoofing of the [email protected] email address. If it was indeed spoofed.

2. If it's not a spoof, then their email accounts are being hacked.

I hope it's the first case and the people that got this so far haven't checked the email headers, or don't know how to. If that's the case, I think the creators should disassociate themselves from this to avoid any liability. I think a live event is a cool concept, but I don't like that they're trying to pass themselves as official, or if they are official, I think they started it off sloppily and on the wrong foot.

Ohh, I didn't even think of a gamejack when i saw this thread.

That says it was on craigslist.

I think it is a cool idea if the creators did this. Although I am not really sure where this would lead to.

deagol, we DO agree. I agree that a live event would totally rock.

I intuitively know that this would not be the style that would be chosen to present such an event.

We will wait. Perhaps the people who "outed" this "event" will come forward and reveal it to be a hoax.

I recommend that no one react to this as if it were a live event, and I know that you recommend the same, deagol.

I strenuously object to anyone taking this seriously, but as the "e-mail" doesn't suggest anyone taking action until Thursday, I suppose it is ultimately harmless. The Creators, Admin, and moderators of the site will have a chore cleaning it up.

I hope they block the perpetrators of this hoax from future participation.

How do you absolutely know that it is a hoax?

Yes, that is what seems most likely. But the Creators have not confirmed or denied anything yet.

So stop getting all up in arms about this. We don't know if there was a hack or not.
