DoktorBob wrote:Crazy Idea: She made a deal with the Order to leave Jonas alone if she worked for the Order.
Hey! I like that idea! Picture it: Alex has been found out by Jonas. (in "Alex is...") The boys leave so she calls the Order to tell them the problem. The Order immediately wants to bring Bree in until the time for the ceremony comes and just kill off her companions.
Alex likes Daniel and loves her nephew so she says to the Order, "If I put the fear of God into these children, scare them into rethinking their position, you gotta leave Jonas alone."
The Order agrees, so Alex puts on a pretty well acted scene which we were party to. The order breaks their agreement when they pick up the three and interrogate them.
Alex hears about this and is pissed. She contacts the Order and gives them holy hell. It's at this point that Jonas peeks in and overhears her (the italics) but let me give you a possible other side(Bolded)
I don't know what you're so angry about, your plan didn't work. We had to take firmer action. And that action worked, right?
Yes, they called me.
So the plan worked.
No, because--
Are you telling me they're not sitting on your doorstep like little puppies? Of course they are. So what do you care if we had to work a little chemical magic?
I do care because it's a violation of free will and you know...
I know we haven't stepped out of the letter of the principles. Have you forgotten them?
I know the principles, do you want me to recite them for you?
Then what are you upset about?
I didn't know you were going to do anything...
You didn't know, Alex, because you didn't want to know. Don't let your little lies go upsetting you.
It's horribly upsetting, all right, I don't like lying.
You're not one of the Hymn of One any more, my dear, you've been initiated into the higher purpose.
It goes against...
It makes it possible for us to continue the ceremony with the chosen! Why the hell are you worried about two little hangers on?
because he's my nephew!...
...and he's in the way. If you don't watch it, you'll be viewed as in the way too. Now calm down and lets play this thing out, okay?
Okay
At this point Alex is convinced that if she doesn't work with BD&J, the boys are going to end up in a ditch somewhere. She decides to help them. Now Bree comes knocking at her door, screaming at her and not letting her get a word in edgewise.
This explains her coldness at her American home as well as her change of heart now. It gives purpose to the abduction scene without bringing in any new players. So what do you think?

Brilliant, mincartaugh! I think that must be very close if not what actually occured in the conversation.
Also, Alex's wardrobe choices have changed. She was wearing regulation Order black before. In the last couple of appearances, she has rebelled, from a fashion standpoint.

ALEX IS FULL OF IT! SHE SO KNOWS MORE THAN SHE SAYS SHE DOES!
I knew she was trouble since the moment she stepped into that SUV at the airport. AHHHH
Daniel beast is still hurt that he was used-- poor guy-- don't trust women beasty! they are EVIL . Plus the fact that she is in the order makes her extra evil.
Alex is playing dumb right now

As Visceria and Eevee have said, it's really odd to see such a huge attitude change.
Things that seemed odd to me in "Alex is..." were these following lines:
"I couldn't have killed your parents, because they're still alive. I think that you should be less concerned about me, and more concerned about what will almost certainly come after me. There are elements within the Order that will stop at nothing to reclaim your cute little friend."
The parents that she talks about are Jonas' parents right?
And what's supposed to come after her? Apparently they haven't come for her yet. She almost implies that the "elements within the Order" are in fact the various branches within the organization. If this is true, then is she trying to warn them of this mysterious branch, possibly known as the Hymn of One, or is she acknowledging their side and playing a facade?

The absolute best part of the video?
Daniel and Alex completely reveresed their roles from the last time they met face-to-face. This time it's DANIEL telling ALEX to shut up and sit down.
I was cheering like crazy when I saw that.

Those are all parts of The Order, aren't they?
Sooooo now there are super villians who are not members of The all-consuming-Order?

I would have thought that she joined the order for religious reasons and identifies with the religious side of it (ie hymn of one) as 'the order' and the scary sides (opaphid, the captors) as charlatans or wayward heretics or something.
I don't think Bree's assertion that the hymn of one is a religious cover-up for the evil order is going to turn out to be fully accurate. It'll probably turn out to be more complicated, with benevolent and malevolent factions. This all ties in with the watchers appearing to be protecting rather than harming the scoobies.
btw I guess I'm mainly a lurker who pops up her hand when she has something important to say

rupa, great point.
I recall thinking at one point that Operation Aphid was actually a splinter group of The Order -- the militant fanatics. Perhaps The Order proper does not consider Op to be official. Kind of like fanatics in other religions.
That said, I do think there is more to The Order than religion.

I have decided for the time being to run with my old belief that OpAphid is not
considered a "real" part of The Order which I posted above.
