Oh yeah and I work better when I'm not around others. The fact that I'm ADD so it's easier for me to have a slight distraction that is very minor rather then the hundreds of people I work with.

I debated before asking this, but.. since my younger son is borderline.. how do you deal, in a crowded workplace??!!
I too have ADHD. I was diagnosed 4 years ago.
Huh.. wow. I didn't realize this was so common. Kenny, did they want to put you on Ritalin? Were there problems when you were in elementary school cause of it?

I was 16 before the diagnosed me. Took that long for them to figure out I was ADD and had verbal dyslexia. But some how I was still like a A/B student before then LOL

Oh I have no problems shareing.

Honestly the best way I do it is by turning up my volume on my phone to where I dont hear other people near me. But that only works until it gives me a head ache. That is when I find something to make me focus. Normaly it's a photo on my desk I stare at when feling distracted, or if it's slow a book between calls.
I learned to control mine as a teen, sometimes I zone still but normaly they dont happen that often. Only when my brain is like totaly wierd.

Huh. My son struggled, hard, thru school.. but has a love for numbers.. so, is working for a bank. His focus, from what he's said, are numbers.. but I think an excess of energy shared because of this.. actually helped him in the workplace.
not surprising to see great minds busy prying into things and up at all hours tho, lol!

I have tried a myriad of medications. They started me on Ritalin, but that made me feel empty, in fact, I began crying once without realising it. Then I was on Adderall for about 2 years, but the main problem with Adderall is that in some cases its effectiveness wanes over time. Then I tried Strattera, but that had no effect (my parents believed it caused me to even lose focus). Then came Focalin, which is half of the Ritalin molecule, which worked well. But I decided to try a Ritalin patch because of the convience it offers, and I have found it works very well.
I didn't really have many issues in elementary school, in fact my type of ADHD, innattentive, tends to show itself more when I have multiple classes to juggle. With only one class I am able to excel without much effort.
If you are wondering about my diagnosis, I was diagnosed by a pyschiatrist. This is the most believable diagnosis, as any pediatrician can diagnosis (often correctly), but without the proper pyschiatric tests it is difficult to determine.
If you have any other questions, I am not at all ashamed to discuss my ADHD. I am very knowledgable about the side-effects of many of the medications, as I have experienced quite a few. I believe it is a part of me. A part that makes me who I am, and I like who I am, so I like my ADHD. Sure, it is a battle sometimes, but I get through it.
You mentioned that your son is borderline, and all my talk of medication may seem daunting. I should note that, while in the past I did rely on medication, recently I have found that I am able to get a lot of work done (something I could not do previously without medication) while off my meds.
Sorry that was so long, but I felt that a short-answer would not have been sufficient.

Yeah it seems every ADD finds something that is totaly there own to control it. Normaly music is best for me, but I can't do that work.
What's worse is the fact I can hear one word of a conversation and my brain so forgets what I was talking about LOL
